Coffee-O-Five
Falmouth, MA, April 9, 2004
Good Friday Brings Good Running Weather Brings Out 43 Runners
by FTC
The Good Friday edition of the Coffee O Five proved to be a great night to
run and a season high of 43 runners and another ten walkers took part.
For the contingent who had committed to next weekıs Boston Marathon it
was their last hard test before race day. Joe Cobb and Bob Richards, who
will both be toeing the line in Boston romped home with personal best Coffee
O times. Jim Tietje, who will not be toeing the line in Boston, also
chalked up a personal best time.
The rest of next weekıs Boston Marathon contingent, Wendy Stafford,
Jack Carroll, and Ed Giordano all turned in fine efforts this week as well.
The womenıs race this week came down to the wire and in the end the
younger legs prevailed as Lindsay Ruthven edged Wendy Stafford by a scant
five seconds. Sharon Grace nabbed third, with a time of 38 minutes and
Stace Beaulieu trotted home a minute later to take fourth for the women.
The Coffee O Five is a weekly five mile run and 2.4 mile walk, that is
held every Friday night at 5:30 from Town Hall Square in Falmouth. There is
no entry fee for these self-timed events and all runners and walkers are
invited to participate. The Second Annual 3.8 Mile Chase the Patriot Cross
Country run will be held Saturday, April 17th at 10 AM at Falmouth Academy.
