Coffee-O-Five
Falmouth, MA, April 30, 2004
Forty Two at Pre Derby Coffee O
by FTC
Forty-two runners and half a dozen walkers left the gate Friday night
at the Coffee O Five. Rich Gori, a former harrier at Mass Maritime, broke
away early and held on for the win. Finishing in a dead heat a couple of
furlongs back were Steve Ruane and Ken Gartner. Jeff List followed a couple
of lengths behind. Mark Barbour of Fort Collins, Colorado nipped Dana
Miskell at the wire by a nose to take fifth.
Linday Ruthven, the Falmouth High School running coach, bested Wendy
Stafford by a furlong or two, en route to her second womenıs win of the
year. It was a real horse race for the next three spots. Stace Beaulieu,
Joanna York, and Ann Tarrant all finished in a virtual dead heat in just a
shade over 40 seconds. Ms. Yorkıs time of 40:16 was a personal best.
The Coffee O Five is a weekly five-mile run and 2.4 mile walk that is
held every Friday night at 5:30 from Town Hall Square in Falmouth. There is
no entry fee for these self-timed events and all runners and walkers are
invited to participate.
