A word from the Race Director: There are a lot of marathons that claim to be the most beautiful, and all of them have reason to make that claim, but I would just like to say that none of them are run through the territory where Dances with Wolves was filmed. That fact doesn't necessarily make our course 'the most beautiful', but if you saw the movie, you might just want to come out and see for yourself. PLUS, the Mickelson Trail is a very forgiving running surface, and the last part of the course that runs right down Main Street in Deadwood, where Wild Bill Hickok and Calamity Jane used to hang out, makes this marathon at least one of the most 'unique' courses you'll ever run. - Jerry Dunn
