Capital City Veterans Day Race a Success
Under partly sunny skies with temperatures in the 40's, a record crowd turned up
to run this year's eighth annual Veterans road race in the capital city of Augusta.
Gabe Rivard of Winthrop took control of the race at mile two and breezed to a
40 second victory, finishing in 16:20. On the women's side it was much tighter
with Susan Melcher of Manchester winning with a time of 20:10, just eleven
seconds ahead of Kate Kenoyer of Whitefield.
A record number of 166 runners finished the race.
A record field also ran the Kids One Mile Fun Run. Out of the twenty-six starters,
Brandon Lawrence of Holden finished first with a time of 5:32.
The following major sponsors would like to be thanked:
	Capitol Containers Inc.
	American Awards Inc.
	A.D.E.P.T. Screen Printing and Graphics
	College Carry-Out
We are already looking forward to next year's race, always held
on Veterans Day.
