Tarrant has Coffee O Run of the Night

Forty-five runners and a dozen walkers took part in this week¹s Coffee O Five. Mike Norton led the way in just under 31 minutes. Jeff List followed about a minute later. Dana Miskell toured the course early and posted one of his best times of the year. His time of 32:43 held up in the end for a fourth place finish. Ed Sweeney took fifth in his Coffee O Five debut. Mr. Sweeney is another of the many fleet footed runners of the U.S. Geological Survey in Woods Hole who seem to frequent the Coffee O Five. Lynn Holmgren started out slow and picked it up midway as she picked off several runners with a strong finishing kick. It was the last Coffee O Five of the season for Ms. Holmgren, as she will be off to college next week. She posted a very good time of 33:15. Wendy Stafford crossed the line three minutes later to take second. It was probably Ann Tarrant who had the run of the night. Ms. Tarrant finished in a tie for third with a trio of fast women in a personal best time 37:54. Despite the strong head she obliterated her previous personal best by over one minute. Also making her Coffee O Five debut was Sharon Grace of North Falmouth. Ms. Grace was escorted across the line by Jurek Blusztajn, a Coffee O Five veteran who knows the course well as he has way over one hundred Coffee O Fivers on his resume. The Coffee O Five is a weekly five mile run and 2.4 mile walk which is held every Friday night at 5:30 from Town Hall Square in Falmouth. There is no entry fee for this self-timed event and all runners and walkers are invited to participate.
