Race Summary

The day was warm and drizzly – great for running. The course markings kept everyone on course this year (a new course record!). Runners came from all 6 New England states plus New York and New Jersey. A field of 114 runners ran the 9.5 mile course. Keith Schmitt of Durham, NH was the first runner to cross the finish line in 1:03:40 and Becky Flowers of Leominster, MA was the first female to finish in 1:12:01, setting a new record for her age group (20-29). Danielle Stapleton of South Easton, MA also set the record for her age group (15-19), 1:34:40. For the men, Ron Blenkhorn of Maynard, MA set a new 50-59 age group record of 1:13:54. The 3.4 mile race had 77 runners, led by Michael Collins of Groton, MA in a time of 0:22:25, and Colleen Cummings of Longmeadow, MA for the women in a time of 0:27:29, beating her age group (30-39) record that she set in 2000 (28:55). Jaki Lewis of Derry, NH set her age group (15-19) record of 0:29:57.
