Deer Island Weekly

Windy, Wild, Day

We will insist on holding these free races every Saturday all winter regardless of the ridiculous weather. Today the wicked wind blew white caps so running to the east made the runners want to deploy spinnakers to capture the tailwind off the inner harbor. But around the point of the Island by Deer Island light with view of broad sound and the outer Boston Harbor Islands we had to beat our way into the wind with a second mile a minute slower that the first. At no point are the runner more than a few meters from ocean water. At 10:00 am every Saturday at Deer Island off Winthrop. Give it a try, if you dare.
