Coffee-O-Five

Falmouth, MA, December 12, 2003

Coffee Ho Ho Five

by by FTC

Eighteen runners toed the line and raced down clear snow-free roads in this weekıs Coffee O Five. Leslie Fotiu regrouped the walkers after last weekıs dismal walker turnout, and legged it out with five other willing soles. Afterwards everyone gathered around the black Toyota pickup truck, otherwise known as race headquarters, and swilled steaming Coffee O hot cocoa, instead of ice cold water, for the first time of the year. Ed Sweeney of the Woods Hole based ³232 Racing Team² led a trio of three runners across the line this week. Mr. Sweeneyıs time of 31:27 was one of his best Coffee O efforts of the year. Wendy Stafford was the first woman with a time of just under 37 minutes. Stace Beaulieu finished a step or two ahead of Ann Tarrant to take second for the women. The Coffee O Five is a weekly five mile run and 2.4 mile walk which is held every Friday night at Town Hall Square in Falmouth. There is no entry fee and all runners and walkers are invited to participate. Reflective running gear is required in the winter and after the event, Coffee Obsession supplies steaming hot cocoa to all participants. There will be a special high noon running and walking of the event on Friday December 26th, for those who have the day off or for those who can run five miles in the time of their lunch break.
