Coffee-O-Five
Falmouth, MA, April 4, 2003
Stone Sets Early Time to Beat
by by Ken Gartner
It was kind of a bleak night for a run, but 23 runners and four walkers
still showed up at this weekıs Coffee-0-Five. Greg Stone was awake at the
crack of dawn and ran the course solo at 6:00 AM in 29:08. His time was one
of his best five-mile efforts in years and when the main group took off 12
hours later, no one could come close to matching his blistering pace.
It was a social running night some of the runners, as half the field
ran together in pairs. Matt Theodore finished with some old bald headed guy
in a tie for second. Pete Sampson and Jess Baker followed them in a tie for
third, with Ms. Baker taking first for the women. Paul Hartel and Jack
Carrol paced each other to dip just under 38 minutes. Micky and Matt Plant
finished together in just over 43 minutes. Mike Garry paced Bob Richards,
or maybe it was vice versa, but they both finished in 46 minutes flat.
Eileen Miskell was the second woman this week. Sabine Mecking edged
Joanne Corsano for third and Carolyn Bird rounded out the womenıs field.
Just four walkers took part this week. Two Pelletiers and a pair of Lunnıs
completed the 2.4 mile walk.
The Coffee O Five is a weekly five mile run and 2.4 mile walk which is
held every Friday night at 5:30 from Town Hall Square in Falmouth. There is
no entry fee for this self timed event, nor are any glorious prizes awarded.
All runners and walkers are invited to participate.
