5th Annual Turkey Lane Turkey Trot a Cold Success

The Hinesburg Land Trust's 5th Annual Turkey Lane Turkey Trot was run under trying conditions on Sunday, December 1, 2002. The intrepid runners and walkers cheered the Hinesburg Town Sand Truck that arrived just in time to put an additional layer of sand on the snowy and icy course. 20 runners and 2 walkers participated in this 4.25 mile race, over a hilly and challenging course. Their efforts raised $210.00 for the Hinesburg Land Trust.

Allen Mead of Hinesburg, Vermont was the fastest man at 25:06 and Tania Bolduc of Vergennes, Vermont was the fastest woman at 32:24. Other running winners in their age divisions were:

Damian Bolduc, Montpelier, 27:16 Mark Styduhar, Hinesburg, 28:18 Yvon LaMarche, Hinesburg, 29:35 Hannah Spitz, Essex Junction, 34:11 Elise Cleary, Hinesburg, 39:06

The Hinesburg Community School also fielded a team headed by teachers Kerry Walker and Tom Darling and student Ryan Palmer. Bell's Maple Syrup, Hinesburg and Runner's World provided prizes.
