Coffee Obsession Friday Night 5
Falmouth, MA, May 17, 2002
New Friday Night Walk a Big Hit
by L.L.
In an effort to keep everyone involved, the Coffee-O-Five has now
added a 2.4 mile walk to the event. The first “running” of the Coffee-O
walk was held this week. A collection of 11 happy walkers led the way
for the first edition of the new walk.
Among them were a couple of broken down and injured runners,
two young college students, a pregnant housewife, a very friendly
receptionist, and one dog. “Fast Eddie Pas” (who no longer is fast)
led the way for most of the walk, but was overtaken at the end, as
he had to chase his dog who had veered off course.
All eleven walkers sauntered across the finish line with a time
of 44 to 45 minutes.
Jeff List copped first in the run this week. Mr. List who
completed a tough mountain trail race the previous week, had no problems
loping through the flat 5 mile course in just over 31 minutes. Brian
Nelson kept in shape while he was at college, as he pounded out a 32:43
minute run, which was good enough for third.
Corey Keesling cracked the top five for his first time in a
couple of years. He edged Tim Jones by a few seconds, with both runners
cracking 34 minutes.
Pauline Lim led the women with a time of 38:15. Chris Scott edged
Mary Olenick for second by just 10 seconds. Elizabeth Sherman and
Laurie Fife rounded out the top five for the women.
The Coffee-O-Five is a free self-timed road race which is held
every Friday night at 5:30. The run starts and finishes at Town Hall
Square in Falmouth. The new 2.4 mile walk will also be held every
week. All runners and walkers are welcome to participate.
