Coffee Obsession Friday Night 5
Falmouth, MA, June 7, 2002
Cold Weather Doesn't Stop The Friday Night Runners & Walkers
Despite the cold weather and the threat of rain, thirty-eight
runners and eighteen walkers toed the line this week at the
Coffee-O-Five. It was a good week for Duncan Smith-Rohrberg. He
graduated from Harvard University on Thursday, and on Friday he raced to
a Coffee-O-Five victory. His winning time of 30:02 was identical to the
time he posted last week. Mike Norton bested Brian Nelson for second,
while Dave McPherson nabbed fourth.
There were some very fast women in the field this week, as it took
a time of 40 minutes to crack the top five. Lynn Holmgren raced to her
first Coffee-O-Five victory with a time of just over 36 minutes.
Pauline Lim finished a minute later in second place, while Stace
Beaulieu took third in 38 minutes. Nancy Correia and Sharon Napier
rounded out the top five this week.
Despite the tough headwind on Surf Drive, Mike Garry cracked the 40
minute mark for his first time in many months. The wind also didn’t
seem to bother Andrew Hassey, as the Falmouth High miler took over a
minute off his time of last week. The Miskell family showed up in force
this week, with all three family members running very well.
The Coffee-O-Five is a weekly five mile run and a 2.4 mile
noncompetitive walk which is held every Friday night at 5:30 from Town
Hall Square in Falmouth. There is no entry fee and all runners and
walkers are encouraged to participate no matter how slow or fast they
may be.
