Campbell, Young Top Field in Survivor 5K

Rainy, windy conditions cooled things off and stopped just in time for the start of the 2nd Annual Survivor 5K in Atlanta.  The 163 finishers heated things back up as the fast, 3-loop criterium style course garnered some spectacular times. There were 8 men under 16:00 and 3 women under 18:00. Malcolm Campbell defended his title, breaking his own course record by :01 in 15:07 and claiming a 3-night hotel stay in a destination of his choice. Campbell was followed by Bill Stewart (15:15) and Pete Rea (15:17) respectively. Mike Fitzgerald was the 1st Masters Male finisher with a time of 16:32.

In the women’s field, there was another course record as Valerie Young ran 16:45 to beat out defending champion Judy Johnson (17:29), both under the course record of 17:35. Young also claimed her prize of a 3-night stay in a destination of her choice. Kim Feather took 3rd place overall with a time of 17:52 and Nancy Stewart was the 1st Female Masters finisher with a time of 19:00.
