DCRRC Bastille Day 4M

On a rainy summer morn, 104 runners assembled at mile marker 8 of the Capitol Crescent Trail for the start of this year's Bastille Day 4 miler - quite an impressive turnout for the conditions. Last year's champion/assistant race director (Joe Racine) opted to only wear the director's cap for this year's race, so a new champion would be crowned. DCRRC regular, Ted Paulos broke the tape (metaphorically speaking) with a time of 22:30. He was followed closely by Scott Douglas of Bethesda (22:44), and Welch Suggs (22:52). On the women's side, Maria Kozloski outpaced the field with time of 24:59. Ron Hess and Betty Blank took the top Masters honors. The top 3 overall and top Masters were presented bottles of French wine, and age group winners received a loaf of French bread. A huge thanks has to go out the great group of volunteers, especially those who helped in deciphering the results with wet finish cards.
