Awards were also presented to the runner who has participated in this event since its inception, Mike Herdina from Rapid City, SD. The two runners who traveled the furthest distance also received prizes: Kristin Severson from Pittsburgh, PA and Amy Maguire from Phoenix, AR.

The Northern Hills Area CASA Program was the sponsor of the fundraiser and the proceeds will be used to train and support volunteer advocates. CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocates) volunteers are trained to research and present to the court the needs of abused or neglected children they represent. The Northern Hills Area CASA Program is located in Deadwood and serves children in Meade, Lawrence, Butte and Perkins counties.
