Tarr Notches First Friday Night Win
by Ken Gartner
Thirty-seven runners enjoyed another perfect night for a run. It was another historic night for the Friday Night Five as this was the first night that marked the changing of its' name to the "Coffee-O-Five."
Bob Crowley held the lead this week for 4 miles until Mike Norton stormed by him to capture the win. Crowley held on for second place. Steve Hamel had a very good run to take fourth with a time of just under 32 minutes. Michael Ouimet nabbed fifth, just ahead of Jeff List, the "mountain man." Mr. List has been training in earnest for next weeks' Mount Washington Road Race. The race has just one long, long hill in it.
Carly Tarr, a former Falmouth High harrier, returned from college in fine shape and garnered her first ever Friday Night Five/Coffee-O-Five win. Ms. Tarr finished with a time of 38:25, just a minute ahead of the second place finisher, Chris Scott. In the 30 races of this calendar year, Ms. Tarr is the 15th different woman's winner. Judi Keller edged Nichole Grevelis for third place, with Linda McDonald taking fourth.
Keith Bradley represented the running Bradley family this week. He finished his first Friday Night Five in a long while with a very good time of just over 40 minutes.
The Friday Night Five, which is really now the "Coffee-O-Five", is held every week at 5:30 from Town Hall Square in Falmouth. There is no entry fee and all runners are invited to participate. In honor of Father's Day, the first father to finish next weeks' race will be awarded a beverage of his choice from Coffee Obsession.
