The "Coffee O" Five (Formerly the FTC Friday Night Five)
Falmouth, MA, July 13, 2001
Friday the 13th Proves Lucky for Keller and Norton
by Ken Gartner
Fifty-nine runners toed the line in this week's "Coffee O" Five. It was 75 degrees with low humidity, and essentially a great night for a run. It was also Friday the thirteenth, but nobody seemed too worried.
Sarah Keller won her second "Coffee O" Five of the year, as she clocked a time of just under 35 minutes. Hot on her heals was 16 year old Kayla Halloran of Megansett, just 30 seconds back. Ms. Halloran posted her fastest "Coffee O" Five time ever and finished a lucky 13th over-all. Jane Zee-Zoufaly took third place.
Mike Norton led the field with a time of 29:16. Steve Faluotico broke 30 minutes for only his second time, and his time of 29:59 was good enough for third place. Tor Clark, made one of his rare Coffee-O-Five appearances and as usual he managed to crack the top five. He finished with a time of 30:22, a minute ahead of D.J. Fairbanks. John Babington clocked one of his best ever "Coffee O" Five times, finishing in just over 32 minutes. He took sixth place over-all.
The "Coffee O" Five is held every Friday Night at 5:30 from Town Hall Square in Falmouth. There is no charge for this self timed event and all runners are encouraged to participate.
