FTC Friday Night Five of 2/23/01
Falmouth, MA, February 23, 2001
Falmouth Track Club VP, President & First Lady Clean Up
by Ken Gartner
It was a tough day for the front-runners at this week's Friday Night Five. David Farrell had the lead for the first mile before pulling out with a pulled hamstring muscle. Jeff List then took the lead but he to faded quickly as he wasn't feeling well. He still managed to hold on for his fifth consecutive top five finish. Mike Norton, another early front-runner, veered off course at three miles and ran around in the Moors and thus never finished the race. Suddenly a bewildered Bob Crowley found himself in second place over-all. Finishing right on the Falmouth Track Club vice president's coat tails, was Dave McPherson, the Falmouth Track Club president.
Trish McPherson was the first woman across the line. Ms. McPherson who somehow manages to run almost the exact same time every week she runs, did it again with a time of 41:33. Joanne Corsano took second in her inaugural Friday Night Five. Ms. Corsano, was escorted through the course by Friday Night veteran Sandro Segalini.
The runners made it to the two mile mark this week before the sun went down. In another month or so the reflective vests can go back into the closets until next fall. The Friday Night Five is held every week at 5:30 from Town Hall Square in Falmouth. All runners are invited to run. There is no entry fee or registration required for this self-timed event.
