2001 Roxbury Race #29 - 5M

Roxbury, CT, September 15, 2001

Results courtesy of Ed Sandifer's Roxbury Running Page.

Moment of Silence

A moment of silence in memory of those injured and killed in Tuesday's tragedies at the World Trade Center and the Pentagon preceded this week's start.  It was the smallest field of the season, only 23, as many people chose to stay home to be with their own loved ones.  Those who were there were reminded that the free spirit and camaraderie of Roxbury is one of the benefits we enjoy in our free and open society.

Dave Harvey won the race itself, steadily pulling away from pursuers Ken Merrick and Ed Sandifer after about a mile and a half.  His time was 40 seconds faster than Jon Freeman's winning time on the same course last week.

Peg Molina won for the women, her first win since May, when she was debilitated by a nagging injury incurred at the Boston Marathon.  Though she's not back at full strength yet, it is good to see her recovering.

This week's pictures are of the twin towers of the World Trade Center, as they looked in happier days.

The Roxbury Races are now listed on the Internet both on CoolRunning.com and on HiTekRacing.com.
