Zuback Repeats, Harvey
Debuts
Lynn Zuback won for the second week in a row, and Dave
Harvey turned his first appearance of the year into a win at this week's 3.55
mile Roxbury Road Race
Among the women, Zuback took the lead from the start, as
her main rival, Peg Molina is still hobbled by a nobbly hip injury from the
Boston Marathon.
In the men's race, Dave Harvey, Mike Abraham and Bob
Derringer made a quick start, with Harvey and Abraham going through the mile in
5:33. Derringer had been boiled off by the hot pace and finished
6th. The pace was too fast for Abraham, too, who finished more than a
minute back. Dave Harvey runs seldom at Roxbury any more, but he hasn't
been beaten here for more than two seasons now.
Nine Roxbury runners ran Boston last month. Eight
finished. You can see how they did at the Roxbury at
Boston site.
That's Walt Schuttler and Carl Hunt in this week's
picture. Both of them missed this week, but we figured we'd better use the
picture, just to remind us what the weather was like a couple of months ago.
That, and we forgot the camera.
The Roxbury Races are now listed on
the Internet both on CoolRunning.com
and on HiTekRacing.com.
