2001 Roxbury Race #18 - 4.8M

Roxbury, CT, June 30, 2001

Results courtesy of Ed Sandifer's Roxbury Running Page.

Watch Out for Ken Merrick!

We've been warning you that Ken Merrick is getting faster.  We were right.  Ken won his first race ever by edging former New Milford High School star Kevin Harrington by fifteen seconds.  Particularly frightening, though, is that Ken's winning time was more than three minutes faster than Ed Sandifer's winning time from a week ago.  Sandifer's time would only have netted him fifth place this week.

Third grade teacher Pam Quist was among the contenders at the half way point.  Though she sank to seventh place overall, she bested her nearest female rivals, Roxbury residents Gisela Boelhouwer and Mo Van Moffaert.

This week's photo show's Carl Hunt supervising Harry Ong as he stretches on the back of Ed Sandifer's truck.  How's his style, Carl?

Among  the women, Pam Quist won her fifth race of the season, putting her ahead of injured Peg Molina and rapid Lynn Zuback in that department.  Pam's time this week was 34 seconds faster than her winning effort from last week.

Close study will show that a number of people have a learning curve on this course; that is they were faster this week than last week.  We'll leave it to your sharp eyes to spot how your favorites did.

The Roxbury Races are now listed on the Internet both on CoolRunning.com and on HiTekRacing.com.
