Race Results

The First Annual Iron Hills Youth Triathlon proved to be a great day for a group of young triathletes. Athletes from as far away as Las Vegas came to El Dorado Hills to compete and take on "Iron Hill" and the other challenging hills and trails on the course. The Junior division started the race off with 150 yard swim. They then biked 5K, including a number of challenging hills starting with a tough climb up the now famous Iron Hill - a youth version of Lynch Hill which challenges triathletes at the popular Wildflower Triathlon. After descending back into transition, they hit the trails surrounding the El Dorado Hills Community Services District Park for a tough 1K run before racing downhill to their finish. The Senior Division raced on the same course, but faced a longer (300 yard) swim, and twice the number of hills and trails (10K bike and 2K run).

Casey Friedrich of Placerville and Sara Haley of El Dorado Hills were the first Junior boy and girl to cross the line with times of 21.53 and 23.57 respectively. The first Seniors to finish were Kirsten Harper of Walnut Creek, CA and Peter Ferguson of Sacramento, with times of 41.07 and 52.21.

Top age group awards went to Carly Bettencourt and Robbie Smith in the 7-8 year old division, Sara Haley and Casey Friederich for the 9-10 year olds, Shawn Turville and Peter Ferguson in the 11-12 year old division and Kirsten Harper for the 13-15 year olds. Complete results are listed below.
