Khoury's 4.13 mile

Somerville, MA, November 2, 2000

Results courtesy of the Somerville Road Runners

A hearty welcome to Khoury's first-timers Kirk Buggy, Maria & Shawn Bovill, Bill Bryant, Paul Gillis, Carolynn O'Brien, Rose McCafferty, & Chris Farris.

Yes, Chris Farris!! That would be Dave's brother! See, Khoury's Thursday night runs can be a family event. Bill Bryant is making a comeback after 8 years of being away from running. He survived the course, so I'd say he's well on his way. Kirk Buggy's training for a 5-mile race is going well; he's discovered the benefit of running up Winter Hill and has vowed to return to Khoury's to set a PR. Jill Hibyan reigns in the women's division; she's undefeated in her second running of Khoury's! Ruth Hayes is starting to make Khoury's a Thursday night habit. Larry Horlick was taking it easy tonight; he'll be running the New York Marathon this weekend. Good luck Larry! Meredith Haff is becoming a course expert. Ray Charbonneau can't get enough of volunteering, so Steve Pepe signed him up to work on the Gobble Gobble Gobble course on Thanksgiving. Peter Brook ran so fast he blew out his jock. Why am I telling you this? Because he told me. Paul Hennessey continues to pull in a revolving cast of characters. Mike Manoogian returned to Khoury's, but I forgot to give him his club newsletter; Mike, the Post Office can't find you! Let me know where you are if your address has changed. Jim Sullivan has become a Malt Advocate. Peter "Lub Dub" Terhune modeled his new Illuminite vest for the crowd. Janet Montgomery ran sweep, but Rose McCafferty decided to make things interesting for her. Steve Pepe was called in to help, while his wife Kathy Pepe lounged at the bar at Khoury's, drinking "be-ah with flay-vah." Robin Shor is back in fine form after her Chicago Marathon debut. Jim Sweeney's knee told him not to run (Chicago took its toll), so he helped time, along with Nancy Given and Danny Raboin. Notorious non-SRR and late-night (or is it early morning?) partier Heather Kispert showed up to try to sneak in some phrase into this write-up. Forget it, Heather, it won't work!
