Gartner and Correia Share Top Honors in 150th FTC Friday Night Five

While some were out celebrating Cinque de Mayo, and others the bizarre alignment of the planets and moon, the Friday night runners were enjoying the beautiful 62 degree spring night.

Jeff Fumarola, who is recovering from the Boston Marathon, took 2nd in 30:48, while Dave McPherson, who is preparing for the upcoming Vermont City Marathon took 3rd. In fourth place was Pierre Gastebois of France, who barely broke a sweat as he trotted home in just under 33 minutes. Mr. Gastebois is an intern at the Falmouth Chamber of Commerce. Dave Farrell just managed to hold off Bob Crowley for 5th, Mr. Crowley started the race late but managed to finish fairly early.

Nancy Correia took a minute off of her time from last week and edged Pauline Lim by a mere 17 seconds to finish as the first woman. Ellen MeCray and Paula Fantantoni finished together in third place. Also running well was 8 year-old Michael Moore who ran 46:10. Young Mike was slightly off his pace of last year because he took the winter off, but at his age he should be back in shape in no time.

The Falmouth Track Club 5 Miler is held every Friday night at 5:30 from Town Hall Square in Falmouth. There is no charge for this self-timed event and all runners are welcome.
