Dartmouth Pride Festival 5K R/W for the Music

DSMA 5K Declared a Success
Despite threatening skies, the weather held up as 64 runners and walkers competed in the First Annual Dartmouth Pride Festival 5K Fun Run/Walk for the Music, which benefited the Dartmouth School Music Association, on Saturday, May 20.
Trophies went to those participants with overall best times: Daniel Victorino for the male runners, with a time of 18:43; Darlene O'Mara for the women runners, with a time of 21:17; Linda Gouveia, for the women walkers, with a time of 36:14; and Maurice Paquette, for the male walkers with a time of 45:54. Dartmouth High School's fastest music students were runner David Alves, with a time of 19:03, which also placed him second overall; and walker Lauren Richard, with a time of 47:31.
"We've had many compliments on the beautiful course, and runners are telling us they want to enter this race again next year," said Linnea Michel, race director. "We're delighted that everyone had a good time and that everything went so smoothly."
Sponsors for the event were Shaw's Supermarkets at the Partner level; Bayside Sports Medicine and North Dartmouth Properties, Inc., at the Sponsor level; Long Built Homes and St. Anne's Credit Union at the Friend level; and at the Patron level, M. MacDonald Real Estate, Standard-Times Publishing Company, Compass Bank for Savings, and Fall River Five Cents Savings Bank. Refreshments were donated by PepsiCo and Poland Spring Water Co. Technical assistance for the race was provided by the Greater New Bedford Track Club.
