Our first frosty race of the season made fashion an issue at Roxbury this
week. Some people seemed to be wearing half the closet, and others tried
it in just a t-shirt and shorts. Something in between was more comfortable
at the start, but bu the finish, things had warmed up a bit and the sun had come
up. A hot air balloon graced the western sky at the start.
Dave Dunleavy seldom appears at Roxbury. When he appears, he seldom
loses. The freelance writer who produces the weekly running column for the
Danbury News Times had a challenge today from former University of Pennsylvania
star Tom Casey. They were together at the mile. Dunleavy opened a
ten yard gap by the two mile, but had not extended it any at three miles.
On the way back up the hill, he extended his lead, though, to win by 50
seconds.
Peg Molina won for the women by three and a half minutes over Kimberly
Thompson.
The Roxbury Races are now listed on the Internet both on CoolRunning.com and on HiTekRacing.com.
