Florist Nora Hulton won her first Roxbury Race of the season on the difficult
and hilly five mile course down Apple Lane. She had been in a tight race
with Lynn Zuback when Zuback mis-stepped on the soft shoulder and wasn't able to
continue running.
Meanwhile, Ed Sandifer began the race in fourth place, fighting it out with
two Johns, Richers and Kane. He pulled away from them at the bottom of the
first big up hill, after about a mile and a half, and caught up with Scott
Benjamin just after the top of that hill. Benjamin and Sandifer were back
and forth on the big downhills on Apple Lane and Squire Road, but Sandifer used
another hill, this time the big South Street hill, to pull away for the win.
