Weather temperature conditions typically have been cool in the 50's. There were 583 marathon finishers and 712 half marathon finishers in 1994. Official Timing for the marathon will end at 5 hours.

Course:
This is an extremely fast, flat 13.1 mile oval, two laps for the USATF certified 26 mile 385 yard Marathon - through Tyngsboro, Lowell & Chelmsford around the scenic Merrimack River.

Directions:
To the "Voke" School (Site of the Start/Finish area and Saturday's Pasta Dinner): Take Rte. 495's Exit 35 to Rte. 3 North to Exit 34 (Westford Rd & Rte 3A, Tyngsboro). Go right off the ramp. Bear left at the lights onto 3A and then right onto Rte. 113 going over the bridge. Take an immediate right after the bridge staying on Rte. 113. The Voke School is approx. 2.5 miles down on the left.

To Lowell General Hospital (Site of Saturday's Kid's Events, Heart Fund Walk, Health Fair and Packet Pick-up) Take Rte. 495's Exit 35 to Rte. 3 North to Exit 32 (Rte. 4 and Rte 110 Drum Hill, N. Chelmsford). Take the first right off the exit rotary towards Lowell. Proceed past Caldors approx. 1 mile. Following the blue hospital signs, go across the Rourke Bridge. Take a right on Rte. 113 and proceed approx. 1 mile to take a left onto Dunbar St. which is just before Heritage Ice Cream. At the end of Dunbar, take a right onto Varnum Ave. LGH is immediately on the left.

Race Day Parking: Do not park anywhere near the entrance to the school or along Rt. 113. Parking there will inhibit the race and cars will be towed at the owners expense. There is parking at the Voke school and overflow parking will be available at M/A COM (1.2 mile mark) with free shuttle bus service to the race start/finish area.


Kid's Races: Ages 1-2, 25 Yds, Ages 3-4,100 Yds, Ages 5-12,400Yd


Prizes & Awards: All Marathon Finishers will receive a BayState Marathon finisher's medal and a certificate. Merchandise Prizes or awards to the following places for male and female (only 1 prize per runner).
All Kid's Race Finishers will receive a ribbon.


American Heart Association Walk: The walk is 5 Kilometers (3.1 miles) in distance. All proceeds from the AHA Walk will benefit the American Heart Association. The AHA's charter is to reduce disability and death from cardiovascular diseases and stroke. Additional pledge prize information will be sent in walker's packets.


Team Rules: Each race has its own team competition. All team members must put their team name on their entry form. Unlimited members per team, the fastest 3 times score. The mixed team must have at least 1 female score.
