| Course Description: | The family-friendly run/walk will welcome everyone from competitive runners to friends of the beloved councilor onto a flat and fast USA Track and Field certified course for a sanctioned race that covers just over 3 miles of Allston-Brighton. Participants will start from Tavern in the Square at 161 Brighton Avenue in Allston Village, pass through historic Union Square and onto Cambridge Street towards picturesque Brighton Center on Washington Street. The race continues past Brighton Center on Washington Street, U-turning at Fairbanks Street for the run back. After passing by Bostons District 14 police station, runners will begin the last leg and complete the 3.1 mile course at Tavern in the Square. Water and timing stations dispersed along the course will provide runners with the edge needed to run a personal best, or the extra boost required to help in finishing off a good jog for a great cause. |
| Age Groups: | Top 3 (male/female) 19 & under, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, 70 and over. Awards will be given to the top finishers in each category (male/female). |
| Awards: | Medals will be provided for the first three finishers in each category, with first place prizes furnished by New Balance. |
| Amenities: | Runners will enjoy a world class pre-race stretching tables, professional timing, pace car, on-course and finish line refreshments, restroom facilities, recovery stations, USA Track and Field sanction and certification and much more. |
| T-Shirts: |
The first 1000 entrants will receive race t-shirts. Numbers and shirts can be picked up on Saturday, September 11, 2010 |
| Directions: | The Brian J. Honan 5K is happy to have Tavern in the Square as its hosting and registration partner. Tavern in the Square is located at 161 Brighton Avenue in Allston (02134), convenient to the Massachsuetts Turnpike's Allston/Brighton exit, Storrow Drive, the MBTA's Green Line B trolley, and MBTA 57 and 66 bus routes. Expanded on-street parking will be available on race day with satellite parking provided by BV Development on Guest Street in Brighton. |
