I
like races with character. Give me an interesting and challenging
course, a nice post race party and an opportunity to mingle with
friends and I am a happy camper. The Bobby Bell 5-Miler offers this
and so much more.
This race is the brainchild of race director extraordinaire
Dave LaBrode. Originally the race was designed as an all-male version
of the Bonne Belle women's race in Boston. Twenty-one years later
it has females competing with males on a level playing field using
a spiffy gender grading scoring system.
Runners have recognized this as a quality event
that is a lot of fun! "Only fifty-percent of our race is on
the roads, the other half is at our post race party where participants
can share a pint and chat about war stories with old and new friends,"
says LaBrode. The party takes place at the Lasting Room Pub overlooking
the majestic Merrimack River.
