General Information
| The Event |
The 15th Annual Corrib Classic 5k Road Race will take place on
Sunday, June 1, 2008 beginning at 12:00 PM. This event is designed
to provide an opportunity for runners of all abilities to experience
a fun and challenging experience in the heart of the great Boston
neighborhood of West Roxbury. Hosted by the Bligh family of the
Corrib Pub and Restaurant
and sponsored by The
Cooperative Bank. Gormely
Funeral Services is an event patron. This event has grown into
one of the premier "fun runs" in the Greater Boston area. It has
become a particular favorite of beginning runners seeking a well-organized
race component, which is only outdone by the extremely popular post-race
celebration.
Benefiting the Corrib Charitable Trust, Inc, the event had a
modest beginning with 250 runners in 1994. However, the growth
of the race was evident in 2006 featuring 1,500 runners and 150
volunteers. More importantly, the annual event has raised over
$560,000 for expanded youth & senior programming in the West
Roxbury community.

in 8 different age divisions.

Post-Race Celebration |
The Corrib Classic 5k is widely known for the great party at the
well-maintained Billings Field following the race. The entertainment
is provided by DJ Dave and a traditional barbecue is provided. An
inexpensive raffle is available featuring cash prizes and a trip
for two to Ireland.
|
| Volunteers | The Corrib Classic 5k has a well-deserved reputation as one of the best organized 5k races in the Greater Boston area. This is largely due to our experienced volunteers who numbered over 150 in last year's race and the great work of the Boston Police Department. This cooperation ensures optimal traffic and race management for all participants.
The first 130 registered volunteers are provided with a popularly designed "Race Official" shirt.
Interested parties can contact the Corrib Pub and Restaurant.

| The Winners | CORRIB CHARITABLE TRUST, INC
The popularity of the Race has allowed the Race Committee to expand
its funding recipients. The Roche Family Community Center will continue
to receive a large portion of the event proceeds. However, the Committee
has received requests from additional neighborhood-based, worthwhile
charities. Therefore, the Race Committee has established a non-profit
(501-c3) trust, entitled "Corrib Charitable Trust, Inc." to generate
and disburse funds to these organizations under the guidelines of
the Massachusetts Attorney General's Office.
Due to the generosity of our corporate sponsors, the Committee
is able to keep event overhead at a minimum which translates to
greater Corrib Charitable Trust donations to the recipient organizations.
