barging in , some great Chicago times . Am running Altanta Thaksgiving Day Marathon(2nd marathon, 2nd time on course). Anyway, looking for Robert Wildes, I see he is supposed to run it. I posted a thread on Racing Together about Marathon and only 1 other person is running full. Wanted to see if he had run it before, any suggestions, etc. I am attempting to get PR. Thanks

Race felt a lot better than my first marathon. However, the weather really sucked. We got there 2 hrs prior and we were outside sitting in the cold windy weather. I was just sitting there thinking that it wasnt that bad and that the heat all summer was worse than this... The first 10 miles felt good, but noticed that HR was higher than the 90% and I knew that it would fall later and balance out. But I was with a group of people and it felt easy until mile 13. I think it was a long stretch of road and the wind was dead on and the entire group fell apart. So after that I just planned on keeping it at a comfortable 5:55-6:00 and maintained it untill the last two miles. Felt the my right hamstring tighten up so I backed off. Over all Felt good the entire 24 miles.

training summary:
31weeks, 37 days off,
Avg weekly mileage: 63.4 [first 15wks - 69.3 | last 15wks 57.4]
Average miles/day in singles: 10.9
Peak weekly mileage: 92.7
Runs per week: 5.8

Last time I ran 2:47:02 off of 40mi/week. This time I avg'd in the 60's, maybe next time I'll bump it up to 80's. Next time I'll do my best to put more effort into it.

I'm ready take it easy for a couple of weeks and maybe train for the dallas whiterock and houston half marathon. Then hit the track for some needed revisions of my 1500m - 5k - 10k PR's!

Good job everyone, seems like everyone eles was right on where they predicted even through the tough conditions.

I've been away from this board for a couple of weeks. Every time I get a chance to post something, I start to write it out and get distracted, or something comes up. One week I even wrote out a whole message and then closed the window before I hit the submit button.

Congrats to everyone who ran their races so far. Southern Man, a big kudos to you for keeping this thread going every week. You and I have the same time goal, so I read your RR with great interest. Heart breaking to miss by such a minute amount of time, but I have to agree with you that to apply to run Boston would be a hollow victory. You'll get in next year and better yet, at the age group below you and even I'm sure with a 2 as the first digit.

Last week was a really light week for me, just trying to run slow and nothing too long. I have found I benefit from a serious taper. Only 27 miles total, with no runs over 8 miles. This week has been three days of REALLY short runs before the big day. The weather is calling for a chance of rain, but wind gusts up to 60 mph. Ouch. That'll hurt crossing the Ambassador Bridge. But what doesn't kill me makes me stronger, and I'm determined to meet my goal.

So steady on friends, and I'll see you on the other side with a Race Report and some cheers for my fellow runners.

My event didn't happen. A strong storm front moving through at start time caused cancellation of the event as the local police wouldn't give clearance. Ironically, the sun broke through and we had a beautiful day literally as we walked outside the door after the announcement. I've no other event I can get too (Philly is in two weeks, but a no-can-do for me), so no results for me.

PLEASE CHANGE MY GOAL TO CHARLOTTE 3:20

Thank you.

I ran a 1/2 Saturday in 1:33:48. I am happy with the effort. It was 70 degrees, windy, and sunny. My last 4 miles were 50 seconds faster then the first 4 miles.

Oh, there's plenty of races but no fulls I can get to. Not to worry...I've gotten a nice 'bump' in my training out of it.
