Squeaky - Pbutter is to get our metabolism working first thing in the am, kick starts your body to burn after a long time without any fuel (sleping), i have done this for 6 yrs - i look forward to it !his theory is to eat 5 to 7 small meals thru out the day to keep your body revved up and burning, you should be slightly hungry when it is time to eat again, think of it as putting wood on a fire to burn, it is best to put small amts of wood on the fire to keep it burning and the higher quality wood=the better the burn & longer the burn (too much wood at once, smother the fire, or bad wood smother the fire)- same as the body = small amt of food and high quality keeps the burn, eat too much in 1 sitting slow down the burn or high processed food slows the burn at first many people find it too much food &/or too often but after a couple of weeks, they are very hungry and dying for the next small meal - that means your body is burning after so many years- i know when i am burning & when i am not just by my hunger level it is really rather simple once you get the hang of it

Just curious what he says specifically about pb that jumpstarts metabolism...how come, for example, pieces of fruit or cereal, or any other kind of food doesn't work the same??thanks

It's the fat, so the body burns the fat instead of carbs, I think.

I've found a couple of ways that either help me to lose weight or at least prevent weight from spiraling out of control. I wear lipstick, liner and a touch of gloss on the lower lip. Yes, I know this sounds crazy but it works for me. Why? Because the object is to eat daintily and ladylike taking small bites and eating neatly while not messing up the lips and lipstick. Try doing this while cooking and eating meals. What ends up happening is that you eat less and very little. You're satisfied but never stuffed and never over eat. Whenever I don't wear lipstick, I tend to eat *more* or too much because I don't care about messing up my lips. Another trick: I no longer wear clothes that are too comfortable such as clothes with elastic waistbands. This is especially at home! Whenever I wear elastic waistbands or loose fitting clothes, I eat more than I should because the clothing is expandable and very comfortable. When I wear clothes with a fitted waistline or at least with a waist & zipper, I tend to eat less because it's uncomfortable if I over eat at one sitting. I don't like my clothes feeling snug or too tight after a big meal or over indulging. So that's one of my secrets: Try not messing up your lipstick (not an easy feat btw-by the way) while wearing clothes that don't have an elastic waist. Also, clothes that you don't want to spill or spot anything on. Wear clothes as if you can go straight to the car or in public with that aren't too comfortable. If I wear a comfy t-shirt with shorts or sweats with an elastic waist, I eat too much. If I wear something fairly nice with a fitted waist, I don't want to soil it with food by spilling something on it nor can I eat too much otherwise my waistline feels too tight. And, if I want to eat like a lady and not muss my lipstick, then I eat way less, a tiny bit. Try it, it works! My mom used to do this and it worked for her. She's old school and told me that it's unladylike for me to gobble like a hog and eat too much. It's better to eat very small servings, eat slower, take fewer bites and push the plate away. I can only do this by not messing up my lipstick and not wearing frumpy clothes.

I might try those later... right now, it's 95 degrees and I'm wearing boxer shorts and a wicking sports bra (underboob sweat is THE WORST). I tend to overeat when I'm not thinking about it, so lately I've been trying to just be more mindful of what I eat, and also ridding my apartment of junk. Though, there wasn't a lot in that department--most of my junk consumption also happens when I go out.

Luckily, I'm in a/c whether at home or work. The lipstick and not too comfortable clothing technique works. You can't eat a lot while keeping the lipstick looking good and you can't eat a lot if clothes feel too tight from over indulging. Plus, you always look ready if you have guests over or if you need to jump in the car right away and run an errand. No lipstick and elastic waistbands means I'm too comfortable and when I'm too comfortable, my eating habits are sloppy and I eat too much. If I didn't have a/c, then it's much easier not to eat much because I don't want to eat when it's hot. The heat is great for dieting because it suppresses my appetite. It's because eating requires energy and eating makes me feel hotter. Eating in the heat makes me sweat more. If I'm stuck in the heat either outdoors or if the a/c breaks down, all I want is ice water and lots of it. If I do eat and if I'm starving, all I can muster to eat is fresh fruit and salads. Only light, cool food, nothing else.
