Has anyone tried this PB2?

Peanut Butter is one of the very few things that I can't have around and eat in moderation. Single servings don't work either. I'll open one, eat half of it, toss it thinking I'm done but will then want to open another

Right now I satisfy my love for the stuff by getting a PB with toast at work in the morning. But I don't adore the PB our cafe carries and breakfast isn't really when I want PB.

So, this stuff looks interesting. PB flavor but less calorically dense. (And I know PB is good for runners etc. but again it's one of those foods that I'd be happy eating as my sole source of calories for the day ... which would not be good for this runner).

I'm skeptical. Where's the ingredient list? Where's the nutritional information? Who are the reviewers?

I recently started getting my peanut butter at Trader Joe's. It's just peanuts and salt. (It's also available unsalted.) I find that a tablespoon of their peanut butter on a slice of whole grain bread is very satisfying.

Well I'm not skeptical of what it's made of or how it's made ... that's all well explained on the web site. I am entirely skeptical of how it tastes ... which is why I wanted to know if anyone had purchased it before.

I wasn't going to post it here because I don't want to start *that* war but the Whole Foods, TJs, just peanuts peanut butters don't really do it for me. I end up adding something like honey to make it sweet and always salt because to me unsalted PB is blech! After doing that it's just as easy for me to overeat as Skippy. (And given the rest of my diet I am not worried about a trace of trans fats here or there and I actually need salt.)

Here's a different forum expressing 'peanut butter bliss' and it's the same peanut butter you're asking about.

Thank you! I'll have to find some interested friends as ordering 4 jars of anything is off putting (NYC apt dwelling = shop for the day versus the month)

Go you. I am always trigger shy about internet ordering. I still keep looking at Zappos.com and have yet to buy shoes (getting stuff delivered to my non-doorman apt. is a giant pain in the ass, which doesn't help)

If it's backordered that might be a good sign? Word getting around that something good is available?

Okay ... when you get it please check in and let us know how it works as a spread, how it works as a way to make PB flavored smoothies (that was my big plan), and anything else like oatmeal try.

I am always up for trying something new. A few years ago i watched a program on the food channel about seaweed pasta that everyone said tasted like real pasta. I bought some (a case was the smallest order). Well, it was DISGUSTING. And i like seaweed!!! lol. Did NOT taste like spaghetti. That was crap.

The website was payable thru paypal, so that is usually a safe bet money wise. I recently had my credit card number stolen (twice in three months) and have been very wary. I think i know what company it occurred with (it was my business card). So i have been overly cautious since.

I've never tried the Better Peanut Butter. They have something like it at Target, but I'm a little scared of it, too. I figure I like my PB fine enough.

Also, teetime - you should totally go for Zappos. I've ordered from there, and it's free shipping & return shipping, and works really smoothly. I went through a couple cycles of getting shoes, and deciding I didn't like them until I found the shoes I did like. Basically, you get them, try them on, then if you don't like them you go back to your order on Zappos, print off a return label and send it back in. They credit your card when they receive the shoes back.

I keep hearing about that pb2. I never order online for some reason.I always wonder with these small companies and there health claims. I have tried better then pb and I thought it was so sweet. I love Jiff and have tried natural but it takes adjustment.

I LOVE PB2! I first learned of it thru Hungrygirl newsletter. I placed an order. (I was order #58.) This was in January. I placed my 2nd order 3 weeks ago. ( I was order 6000+.)
PB has always been my weekness too. And in Weight Watcher world, even the FF versions are 4-5 points per serving. PB2 is just 1 point per serving. Yay! I didnt care for the Better than Butter brand, and a Trader Joes is over 300 miles away. I was skeptical, too, but I finally found something to satisify that PB craving!
As far as taste,..the best way to discribe it, is to think of how a handful of dry roasted peanuts taste. Thats what I liken it to. My goal with this 2nd order was to start experimenting with recipes.
But...to tell you what a junkie I am....*looks around to make sure no one else is listening*...I am even quilty of snitching a dry teaspoon of powder with a saltine chaser! LOL!
Good stuff!

OMG!!!!!!!
I JUST GOT IT!!!! I just got my box at the office this afternoon. I mixed up a small amount (tbs?) and ate it with a spoon. AWESOME. I found some crazy interesting recipes on another website as well that i will have to try.

Frozen Peanut butter cups....

1/3 cups PB2(7 Tbsp mixed with water)
1 container of FF cool whip
4 Tbsp of Lite chocolate syrup

Mix the PB2 with cool whip. Pour into lined muffin cups. Drizzle chocolate syrup on top.
Freeze. Makes 12 servings. (pretty large ones)
1 point each if using PB2

Interesting ... so I just need to find 3 friends who each want a jar!

So Meri, mixed up does it taste like PB? I am not a fan of things like Coolwhip and/or Lite Syrups (mostly because they remind me of the days gone by when I was in a less healthy state of mind) BUT I would love to try my bread pudding recipe with the powder and just to have a PB like spread for my afternoon snack that doesn't a) have more cals than I need for dinner and b) doesn't lead to then revisiting the PB jar!

I'd say it tastes 90% like peanut butter. I only had the one spoonful as i am at work, but i plan on trying it out many ways this weekend. The jars are the size of a peanut butter jar.
Yeah, i am not a fan of coolwhip but after reading the reviews of this recipe online i am definitly gonna try it! I will report back. I have never actually eaten coolwhip, but used it a couple times in recipes years ago when i did weight watchers.

Can I persuade you to try it in a smoothie recipe? I can't remember if you are vegan or not but I use Almond Breeze Unsweetened Vanilla in my smoothies and keep thinking that it's flavor would be perfect with PB. If you are interested, here is my vision: Handful of ice, 3/4c Almond Breeze, some sweetener (real or cal. free), 1/2c banana or pumpkin, some PB2 powder, dash salt (and extra water if it's too thick)

Re: Coolwhip ... I hope that I didn't come off negative ... I am not a fan of having others comment on my prefs (be it my pref for always saying yes to wine or eating lots of veggies). I just wanted to be clear that in general I try not to chase the super low cal stuff and rather want very much to be one of those sane/all-in-moderation folks. It's just that with PB, I am simply not sane.

no, i totally understand. I am trying to drop some weight for my big goal race in the end of May (like 5+ pounds) so i am eating a lot of food i would usually not eat. I was vegan until the fall when my coach had me alter my diet some. She was fine with me being a vegan, but it was just easier for me to eat some yogurt and have some eggs

I generally do not eat smoothies, but depending on how adventurous i get, i will let you know. People on other websites rave about it in smoothies and oatmeal and in baking in general.

First, if your husband ate a lot I'm guessing that is a good thing?!

Second, I would LOVE a jar. I'd be happy to put the order on my credit card but have it shipped to you or to send you a check including whatever it costs you to sent a jar over to NY.

Of course, you can always select a NY road runners race to do this spring or summer and come for a visit and jar drop off Or if you know a great trail run I should try I might be convinced to travel too.

Now I keep hearing about this pb2 that I'm tempted to order but never order online. I like jiff but for me to be satisfied with it takes a lot. Is there any health benefit to the pb2 or its just for the taste?
