Yes! It's a dark wheat beer, sublte, clean and refreshing. I know the beer purist would lock me away for saying this but although I DO enjoy the continental wheaties with their interesting bouquet, its more of a autumnal type of beer for me. Not really "quafable". The phat pfired is much cleaner for these uber temps we got, while still retainingg that wheat character I love. So in a nutshell, judjing by the standard of Aventinus et al, no its not as good. But judging by my fickle-ever changeing seasonally influenced tastes, best brew, period. <happy dance!>

I qualify as being in a state of monkification. I do not think I will be able to wait until vacation next week.I hope it lives up to the extreme joy of finding it, as well as the anticipation. The blueberry wasn't as appealing as the idea was. Going to Chautauqua Institution, which is a dry community that turns an unseeing eye on those of us that bring some in. It is a fantastic destination, in season. You cannot indulge in public areas, but some smuggle wine into the restaurants.Ha- Al Gore will be there Monday. I find that funny for some reason.

I am confused as hell by all of that, but ok, whatever... I have Aventinus at home. That there is not the issue. Sharing homebrews, however, is where it's at...

Define "post-Phish" quote: from jambands.com “Who Are You?” Last night in Essex Junction, Vermont marked the final show of the Phil Lesh & Friends/GRAB tour. Once again Trey Anastasio made an extended appearance with Phil Lesh & Friends, sitting in for the entire second set, while Mike Gordon joined Lesh on bass during a jam out of “Viola Lee Blues.” However it was the guest who appeared during both group's encores that may have most excited the fans in attendance. Anastasio and Gordon’s longtime bandmate in Phish, Page McConnell, joined Phil & Friends, Anastasio and Gordon for the Friends' “Midnight Hour” encore and later appeared with Anastasio, Gordon, Benevento and Russo for the version of "Who Are You" that closed out their performance. Also of note were the guest appearances that took place later in the night. Anastasio, Gordon and Benevento all made it out to Higher Ground after the show where they sat in with the Dave ["The Truth"] Grippo Funk Band (which also features longtime Trey Anastasio associate Jennifer Hartswick). GRAB will continue its summer tour tomorrow at All Good. As for those concertgoers lamenting the absence of Jon Fishman during the evening’s activities, you’ll always have moe.down.
I've downloaded all of Trey's appearances with Phil & Friends (this year's run and year's past) ... good stuff. On this go 'round, they didn't play any Phish tunes, but stuck to Grateful Dead standards (although they didn't maintain the traditional double-ups of "China Cat Sunflower" / "I Know You Rider" or "Scarlet Fire" ["Scarlet Begonias" / Fire on the Mountain"] Phil Lesh (bass, vocals) Greg Osby (sax) Joan Osborne (lead vocals) John Molo (drums) Rob Barraco (keys) Barry Sless (pedal steel) Larry Campbell (guitar, fiddle, mandolin) Guests: Trey Anastasio (guitar, vocals) Mike Gordon (bass, vocals) Page McConnel (keys)

Any of the gatherings that include a Phish-y fellow is post. Trey was just here recently, by the way. Review was stellar. I have a local concert venue near me that I am able to park at and listen for free. Was sorry I missed them. Because I wear tie-dye a lot,and patchouli, everyone assumes I am a deadhead or a Phish head. Not truly so but I like the stuff they sell in the lots around the concert. I fit right in there, and come home with soap, necklaces, shirts, etc.

Just as The Beatles were John and Paul; just as The Stones are Mick and Keith; just as The Who are Pete and Roger (well, now by necessity); just as Aerosmith are Steven and Joe*; just as Guns N' Roses was Axl and Slash*; so Phish are Trey and Mike. * Granted, Tom Hamilton is a strong force in Aerosmith; and Duff and Slash are the best of friends and have made Velvet Revolver almost as good (musically) as GNR; but rhythm sections do not support outstanding personalities. Other than Paul McCartney and Sting, very few bass players have stepped out into the spotlight of mainstream success.

"The Wind" or "Enjoy Every Sandwich," the tribute album??? Sadly, neither. Phish has never performed "Werewolves of London", either, but The Grateful Dead / Jerry Garcia has. I have Warren Zevon performing "Dancing with Myself" that needs to be heard to be believed. Trey Anastasio played guitar on "True Love" CD by Toots and the Maytalls, which was recorded at "The Barn" in VT. quote: from wikipedia: "The Barn" is the name given to Anastasio's legendary rehearsal and recording facility in the countryside near Burlington, Vermont. It was reconstructed between 1996 and 1998 from an existing structure, the Alan Irish Barn. The Barn has been used by Phish and most of Anastasio's projects since 1999.Other artists who have recorded and/ or performed at The Barn include Herbie Hancock, Béla Fleck, John Patitucci, DJ Logic, Toots and the Maytals, Tony Levin, Umphrey's McGee, The Slip, RAQ, John Medeski, Jerry Douglas, Patty LaBelle, and Addison Groove Project, among others.
On the DVD "Specimens of Beauty" we see the interior of "The Barn." Fish's drum studio is a heptagon with 1980 ChevyVan doors. [This message has been edited by randymar (edited Jul-18-2006).]

Whoa....I ignore all of the ads on the website, truly, and never notice them. That is amazing. I just won a "grand prize" locally: a free pint of milk each week for a year. Big Freaking Deal. They had grills, tents, tix to events, beer coolers....I win 52 pints of milk at a store that is 45 minutes from my house. Now, I would drive that for beer so i guess my priorities are what they are.Suddenly, I want vinegar chips......and I don't eat tater chips.

Good thing Queen was little more open and not quite so purist with their band members!

There are those who argue that Queen was Freddie Mercury and that was it; that Queen would have been successful no matter who Freddie had behind him, because he was so dynamic.I disagree. Freddie was what everyone focused one - he insisted upon it - but without Brian May's outstanding guitar work - he used a shilling for a guitar pick, I believe - Roger Taylor's drumming and John Deacon's bass lines - so good Vanilla Ice stole them - and songwriting ("Another One Bites The Dust"), the whole is much more than the sum of it's parts. If you exchanged any one of those guys, it falls apart. That's a band. Brian Jones was murdered, Mick Taylor went nuts, Bill Wyman quit to live in France, and yet the Stones still plug along; and sound the same, (if not worse) as they did in 1981 - when I saw them last. Aerosmith hasn't done anything spectacular since they cleaned up, but at least they're working. Sure they're writing the sames song over and over, but they're good ones. The Who - or as I've started calling them "The Two" - are going out again. If they can recapture the energy they showed at the 9/11 concert - where they blew the roof off (bad pun, sorry) - all will be well. Now, I'm going to contradict myself a little bit here. Listening to bootlegs - and I have several - of Trey, Mike, Page and Fish guesting with Phil & Friends, Benevento/Russo, moe., Medeski Martin and Wood, you can tell that Phish - as we knew it - was a tightly tangled unit like Queen - that you couldn't replace one, without messing the others up - but the performances by Trey and Mike, tend to be more Phish-like than Page with Vida Blue or whatever Fishman's working on. Trey and Mike were the creative forces - not discounting Page's instrumentals - not only from a songwriting standpoint but also with innovations such as trampolines, audience chess matches, glowstick wars, 7 1/2 hours sets, and more.

Of course, what I meant to say was, that a person with an outstandingly out-going personality, is probably not going to be happy sitting back in the rhythm section, either tucked into a corner by the bass cabinets (like me), or hidden behind the drums. When Phil Collins started singing - as Peter Gabriel's replacement - he stopped playing drums. Ringo plays drums, and everyone wishes he'd stop singing.
