randymar... definately, go for the Sunrise... And that is the beauty of getting the beer from the source. At Victory, you can mix and match a case. So, a sixer each of Sunrise, Prima Pils, Hop Devil and Stomr King are always welcome additions to my refrigerator...

or you can just brew a new batch every other week (thats ~ 2 cases /5 gal batch to you non-homebrewers)It's odd when I don't have at least 4-6 cases of beer in the basement at some odd point in their aging process..... If I didn't run, I'd be one fat basturd..... I do throw in some high-gravity bruisers now and then that are capable of aging for a looonnnnggggggg time. Weirdest/strange high gravity brew: Brewed "Cherries in the Snow", a papazian recipee. Basic ale but brewed with 10 lbs of sour cherries (got from farm in michigan via internet search....this was brewed during the winter) Anyway, 10lbs is a LOT of fermentables, never mind all the malt extract I had in there as well. My blow-off hose ID was not wide enough, cherries start getting stuck...I get a call from work from son #1 (home from school) that the carboy just blew off the top and squirted everything all over the basement. Can hear son #2 laughing his a$$ off in the background. I tell son#1 just to wipe it down and put the cap/hose back on after clearing it out. Get a call 10 min later with same story. Can hear son # 2 is now laughing so hard in background I'm worried he's gonna rupture something.... Tell son# 1 just to cover the top loosley with alluminum foil and I'll deal with it when I get home. Get home... cherries are strewn all over the place! Wall...floor...I'm picking cherries out of the ceiling! (embedded in soft cheap-home depot tile stuff) Well, it had such a head of fermentable spooge on it I figured any contaminating microbe would need an outboard moter strapped to its a$$ to make it through that barrier. So I fermented to completion and bottled. Its been 3 months now, have not opened "Mt Vesuvius Cherry Ale" yet...I'll let you know when I do :-)

Webfoot - that is amazing. I planted two sour cherry trees just so that I might brew such a batch. I may nned to stay home and monitor the fermentation when I do.I have a brew photo that perhpas Randymar will post for me. It's one that I am particularly fond of.

Back to knitting – this week-end I plan to steek a sweater (that is steek not streak Ms Trail). This is not an activity for those faint of heart. This will require me to cut open two armholes in a perfectly beautiful variegated baby sweater. RunMonkey – believe me I will be really toasted when I do this, otherwise it would never turn out.

how do you get a brew partner? I have many volunteers until it actually comes to brew day. Maybe it's me...maybe it's my approach.
Pegasus IPA? Tell me more...

Well, we got the basic grain bill from a friend who used to be the brewer at Bethlehem Brew Works. It is an IPA with Cascade, Centennial, Warrior (I think), and one other type of hops I cannot recall. Amazing...

I brewed the Cherry Sout (papazian recipe as well) which only required 5 lbs of cherries. Apparently, critical mass was not reached and nothing of note ensued. Well, actually the cherry stout was THE BEST STOUT I EVER HAD, but aside from that, no spewing, brewing projectiles. I love glass carboys - kinda like lava lamps for adults - but next batch of Mt Vesuvius (?) will get done in a 7 gallon plastic bucket, which should be OK

Ce qui! C'est terrible! You are supposeto write these things down - hops used, their alpha acid, SG measurements. OCD can go a long way in brewing. What are your thoughts on Cascade hops? vs willamette? I love hops - I have some growing, but have yet to brew with them. Fuggles and Ruggles.

La Tortuga... Oh, we have the recipe written down, I just don't have it on my person.I love Cascade hops. I think, despite the fact that they are everywhere, they are undervalued. I also LOVE Chinook hops. Fantastic. There is also a place for Warrior, Amarillo, and some others, as well... Keep in mind, some of the best beers I have ever had have contained little more than a "kiss" of German hops like Hallertau, Tettnang, or Czech Saaz... Just putting it out there.

Amen to that brother! I love IPAs, I mean that, but it seems to be all the rage now.... Randy, don't worry, you realize our eclectic/ADD like behaivor will soon lead us back to discussing knitting, or runmonkeys highlighted hair, or nehkid weenahs... should'nt be long now

Agreed webfoot....Sometimes simpler is just better. In this day and age of "BIG" beers, some brewers tend to lose sight of that. But I digress...

I, on the other hand, will be taking an angle-grinder to a perfectly good set of handlebars. This is also not an activity for the faint of heart. However, I will not be toasted, or they would definitely NOT turn out ... in fact, they getting cut down BECAUSE they turn out.
