Look above the post that you want to quote. See that box on the right, with the red arrow ... click it. Go ahead, it won't bite. Just be careful ... if you quote something that has "bolds" or "italics" in it ... bad juju.

Cool, I feel complete now....------------------ "Dr Evil: You know, I have one simple request. And that is to have sharks with frickin' laser beams attached to their heads! Now, what you really want to do - to be most effective - is only use that signature ONCE on each page."WHY?" Because, I don't want to have to keep cutting it out as I transcribe this sh!t, that's why!!! Throw me a frickin' bone here, can you???!!!

Well, aside from what we all think, here's a classic (hop) nugget from last year: quote: from [name withheld]: I've tried that Dogfish 20% alcohol garbage. It sounded cool when I was in the liquorstore when they told me it was paletteable. It tastes like battery acid, which I wouldn't drink, and I won't make the same mistake again by drinking Dogfish again. Beer should be enjoyed, not something that you survive. No beer is better than UFO.
It would be hard for me to disagree more, except for the "Beer should be enjoyed, not something that you survive" part.

It just took me 20 minutes to find this, but it was worth the search. I know - I have no business being here at this hour, but I'm traveling and can't sleep, so I thought I would add my own Arrogant B@stard report to RunMonkey's. Arrogant B@stard is aptly named. When available on tap and it usually is at The Publick House, it is the first pint that I go for. Being a light weight, there might not be a second. At my recommendation, the others try something else first. They each take a sip of mine stating “Now that is a good beer. I know what I’m ordering next.” “Of course” is the beer’s reply “I’m the best on the block.” It is good, but really in a “hands-up” in the air fashion. Upon the first sip, it turns my tongue into that of a cat’s. Every single taste bud pops up and gets hit by bitter, dry hops. It is strong without the sweetness of a Rapscallion. This is a good thing as that one will hit you in the head then next morning after even a small glass. Anyways, it is a beer with presence. As half my pint was “tasted”, it was only right to follow it wit a Belgian - Affligem Blonde. http://www.thepublickhousebrookline.com/index.html

I make most of my stuff from Papazians books. Except for the stupid stinky spruce ale, all of them have been exceptional.
I may be slow – and I am – but I eventually get around to what needs to be done. Okay – Papazian – great guy/great recipes. El Señor and I brewed our first batch back in 1988 or 1989 – Todd Spit Stout. It was a success and led to many more: Propensity Pilsner Lager Righteous Real Ale Winky Dink Maerzen I cannot remember all of them until we came across - Wise A$$ Red Bitter. It was good, but not perfect, so we tweaked it a bit. Added some hops, changed the grains a bit and while we were doing this, we also went from bottles to kegs. The progression went something like this – Wise A$$ Red Bitter - bottles Wild A$$ Red Bitter – 5 gallon Cornelius keg Wide A$$ Red Bitter – 15 gallon batch in three kegs. Aptly names because if one were to drink too much from the ever available keg, one might get a … We have had to take a break as El Señor has a new job and is busy. I went solo over the holidays and that is when I brewed the Cowgirl. It was back to small batches and I may start to bottle again. I like the convenience of a keg and the decreased amount of oxygen that it comes in contact with, but it isn’t very portable and my kegorator broke. Am looking forward to hearing about the Belgian/corriander ale – I haven’t done a Belgian yet.

The first couple bottles were flat so I had to wait for complete carbonation. The color is a dark orange brown reminiscent of a cognac and that image carries through with the taste. The earlier sampled bottles had a strong “woody” taste; like chewing on a stick from a birch tree. But that taste has mellowed and presents a marriage of a light cognac with orange, or at least orange zest. There is a light wood taste like what you get from aging scotch in oak barrels. There is no hint of Maple Syrup, as none was used, but if you have tasted maple sap you may be able to perceive its existence. There is little hop taste, by design. I didn’t want to over power the maple flavor. More aroma hops would have been appropriate. The overall impression is of a well crafted Kolsch with a little extra.
Last post and then I am off until Friday.
TRM - did you send it in to that contest? Did it win? What are you brewing next? You have been to The Publick house - haven't you? Okay - good-night and good-luck.

LT, you know me better than anyone ... I ask you: How could I be such a dumb@ss!!! I just noticed that Golden Monkey comes in cork finished 750ml bottles as well ($5) ... That is definitely the way to go. I'm in. You can expect good words after the holiday, Mike.

No Golden Monkey at the local Beerhaus. I did get the EBC Blueberry Wheat,as the Sea Dog Blueberry wasn't chilled, and I kinda prefer that in a beer.I only had one. It smelled terrific when opened! It had a slight acrid finish, and my teeth did not turn blue. However, I can stillsmell and taste it today. I only had one. I swear I smell blueberries, which on a grand scale, if reek I must, it is much preferable to other odor options. I am off, after today, until Wednesday, hooray!

Haven't seen it either place. Redbones rotates and has a thing for NorthWest brews. PH - I have only been there twice, but they seem to really have a preference for Belgian and Belgian-style beverages.

All Points Bulletin Folks:I am a fan of BIG BEER........ Dog fish is an east coast brewery w/ a good distribution system in place so its relatively easy to get. Avery on the otherhand is located in Co, and aside from a few of their more conventional lines have no BIG BEER specimens represented here on the east coast. Please be on the lookout for this critter in partucular; http://www.averybrewing.com/BigBeers/docs/reverend Very intruiging! The other Big Beer brewery of interest is North Coast Brewery Co. out in California. You may know some of their work as represented by "Rascal" or somesuch... One of these days I'm gonna build the beer drinkers version of something akin to the San Diego Zoo........ wide open spaces where ALL species of beer-alope roam in complete contentment....they will be allowed to breed and enjoy a good life, while I judiciously cull the heard now and then......

I just started reading this last night. Good Sh!t. DogFish Head is mentioned three times and Sam Calagione twice by page 5. The author compares the rivalry between Calagione (DFH) and Jim Koch (Boston Beer Co. / Sam Adams) to brew the world's strongest beer to the US and the Russians in the Space Race. There's more to come, I'm sure.

Maybe you should cull the herd BEFORE the breeding / "breeding-like activity" gets going?? Just a thought.

The practice of "Maximized Sustained Yield" demands that a suitable breeding stock of beer-alope be maintained, otherwise chaos will rein and the populations will tumble. Therefore, no culling before a stable population has been established. Jeez... even Ranger Rick magazine has that principle laid out...... As to your oher remark....hmmm...if I keep the trailer park trash out (eg budweiser, coors etc.) then maybe it won't be so bad. I bet you DFH 90 IPA would be quite the player!

I misunderstood ... I thought the beer drinkers would be on display.I would be there on a replica of my porch, or my garage (complete with bicycles); LT in an enclosure resembling Redbones, knitting of course; MikeMills on the dusty Texas savannah, maybe playing with sidewalk chalk; and so on.
