....

Trust me, I'm ashamed.

Any beer made by bottom-fermentation. In Britain, lagers are usually golden in colour, but in continental Europe they can also be dark. In the German-speaking world and The Netherlands, the term may be used to indicate the most basic beer of the house, the biere ordinaire.

Ale
The English-language term for a brew made with a top-fermenting yeast, which should impart to it a distinctive fruitiness. Ales are produced to a wide variety of colours, palates and strengths (see also Bitter, Brown Ale, India Pale Ale, Light Ale, Mild, Old Ale, Scotch Ale, etc).

Only in some American states is the term determined by law (wrongly) to indicate a brew of more than 4 percent alcohol by weight (5 by volume).

Glad to help.

Can it be concluded that Molsen Golden has more alcohol than other beer? Since they call it "ale"? Or is that just a marketing thing.

And beer does make excellent shampoo, btw, Molsen Golden or not.

Oh, she is beautiful, Randymar! Thanks for the pic!

Had a tiring weekend, lots of running and beer. Now, I have to
get thru this work week unscathed....that will take some doing.

It was very rainy here this week-end, but I had an obligation toward my irises, so I kept it. Because I seem to have had some success with them, thought I would share a little info.

These are plants that were started by my father and I have since inherited them. Two weeks after they are done blooming, I do the following -

Every three years I divide them and place them into new locations, give them to friends or garden groups or (time permitting) gorilla plant.

The ones that stay then get fertilized and a hair cut. Usually I just use some triple-phos. I then cut them back to about three inches above the ground, making a fan-like shape and then chop up the leaves for mulch around some newly planted annuals. It takes some time and I usually end up with a few blisters from all of the cutting involved, but they seem to appreciate the effort and bloom beautifully every year.

What does this have to do with BEER? Nothing – I was drinking iced tea at the time.

That's very timley info, Princess, thanks.

Yesterday, I was looking at my soggy, wilted and faded blooms and thought "What would LT do? And when would she do it?"

But I have a dilemma ... only half have bloomed (the white ones). I'm still waiting for the purple ones to pop.

You can always apply the triple phos twice. It isn't a chemical fertilizer. How nice to have two bloom periods.

I am now trying to get some sweet peas seeds to take and grow up my hops.

Hey! Youse guys are deliberately not talking about anything beer-related and are using this thread as a personal discussion group!

Is this:
A. To bring some humility and normalcy to this particular forum.
B. Because you have no other such outlet (the Clubhouse being, well, the Clubhouse).
C. To shamelessly increase the number of pages in this unwieldy thread.
D. Because you can.
E. All of the above.

It's not deliberate, it just sort of happens that way.

Something ate my iris bulbs! They were a gift from a dear pal
and I was so distressed.

Either that or my clueless Beave dug them up. He doesn't understand there has to be something there for a plant to
"come back" next year. I find up ripping perennials out every
year, and he always says "You told me they'd come back!"
I seem to not be able to get that concept thru somehow.

Okay, well, it works.

Re. bulbs/flowers/landscaping--we are currently in the process of looking for a house, despite our not having any actual money. We have been convinced it's better to pay a mortgage than to pay rent, so, we're looking.

It's incredibly anxiety-making but also exciting--and whenever anyone talks about their flowers, their trees, their gardens, I get this sense of excitement and wistfulness. If only I had irises to tend to! Two things I'd really like to do are plant asparagus (which grows well around here) and garlic. I had a garden at my last apartment and really miss it.

It's also an interesting process because buying your first house is sort of like someone saying, Presto! You're incompetant! We are in the process of cycling through all of the things to be anxious about.

Token beer mention: I have none. We didn't drink anything last night, as we are ecovering from having been cigarettapotami over the weekend.
