Can't help you there (I'm not a brewer, but LT is) ... I do know we haven't been getting a good soaking rain down here in the Pines. I'm fighting a battle against Black Spot for my roses; my front lawn looks fine, but my back is suffering.

Our irises bloomed over the weekend - lovely white periscopes peering up from my mulch.

I actually looked at beer, on lunch, and contemplated having
one. I would not, but I looked and thought about it.

Then I saw the pyramid of Stellas, and all I could think of
was "STELLA! STELLLLLLLLLLLA". Nobody waits on people
that are laughing for no apparent reason in a public place.

I wonder what the next Stella will be....Here, it is this year's
Yuengling.

The one you sent that got me started

And, no, it's not easy to straighten those wires out without breaking them.

Plus, keep in mind that corks from Belgian beer bottles are about 20% smaller than champagne corks.

You, know, it's not so bad anymore ... still annoying and unpleasant, but not as much so.

Oh, sure, NOW it isn't so bad, but when I said it, I sullied
the BEER thread's history. My nekkid weenus was relevant,
too.

Pondered a beer last night called UFO. Any opinions on this?
I had been running the campground trails at this massive park
near my home (Six Flags Darien Lake), and stopped at the
camp store post-run for a giant can of Miller Lite( 99 cents!).
I saw UFO and was curious.....but I took my big ole can and
went to "my" campsite to watch the sunset.

I did notice the store has an impressive new array of beer.
They also had two different Stella offerings, 6 and 12, plus
an interesting grouping from Ithaca. This will be fun!

TrailObite, further research is needed, Ithica calls.

Wyerbacher Simco IPA last night, $4.50 for a 22 oz bottle (9%) very nice and agressive IPA.

I am new to all of this. I am a die hard Miller Lite drinker.
Randymar and LT are opening up my beer horizons.I do not
like dark beers at all. I just want something "light" so I don't
make a face when I swallow it.

I had that in my hand and put it down for MH Hocus Pocus.

Maybe tomorrow.

It's been a while since I have had UFO but if you like light beer it is right up your alley. It is very light (in color) but has a desent amount of flavor and good mouth feel.

And now the long awaited review of my Maple Sap Kolsch. The first couple bottles were flat so I had to wait for complete carbonation.

The color is a dark orange brown reminiscent of a cognac and that image carries through with the taste. The earlier sampled bottles had a strong “woody” taste; like chewing on a stick from a birch tree. But that taste has mellowed and presents a marriage of a light cognac with orange, or at least orange zest. There is a light wood taste like what you get from aging scotch in oak barrels. There is no hint of Maple Syrup, as none was used, but if you have tasted maple sap you may be able to perceive its existence.

There is little hop taste, by design. I didn’t want to over power the maple flavor. More aroma hops would have been appropriate.

The overall impression is of a well crafted Kolsch with a little extra.

If you want to try some really good beer, you may want to try homebrewing.

TRM - sounds like a good brew.

My most recent brown ale is but a dim memory. I should maybe do more than an annual batch.

I am too lazy and too impatient to home brew. We were
gifted with a bottle of someone's pot beer they made. We
were afraid to try it and put it in the basement, with the
Jurassic collection. Someone drank it but I have no idea who.
Nobody remembered opening it! The label said POT BEER,
too.

Yes, UFO is good. Shoot me, but I also love a good Molson Golden. Technically, that's ale. Am I allowed to write about it in this thread?

Ale is beer. But, I believe Molson is lager.

Okay, again :

quote:
From beerhunter.com - the REAL Michael Jackson:

Lager
Any beer made by bottom-fermentation. In Britain, lagers are usually golden in colour, but in continental Europe they can also be dark. In the German-speaking world and The Netherlands, the term may be used to indicate the most basic beer of the house, the biere ordinaire.

Ale
The English-language term for a brew made with a top-fermenting yeast, which should impart to it a distinctive fruitiness. Ales are produced to a wide variety of colours, palates and strengths (see also Bitter, Brown Ale, India Pale Ale, Light Ale, Mild, Old Ale, Scotch Ale, etc).

[Here's where it all gets f'ed up - ed.]
Only in some American states is the term determined by law (wrongly) to indicate a brew of more than 4 percent alcohol by weight (5 by volume).

For even more detail: http://www.beerhunter.com/beerstyles.html

Glad to help.
