You know, that may have been harsh ... I mean, it took four years, 236 pages (5,900 replies) for ANYONE to even mention a "nekkid weenus"

I think that shows an incredible amount of restraint on our part, maybe too much.

Oh, no offense taken. Your response was almost exactly
what I said when I saw it. (It was certainly out of context....)

What kind of beer should I get?????

So refresh me, what's the protocol??? Is there beer at the "water stops" or only at the post-race gathering???

If there's beer out on the trail, I would ...

(I can't believe I'm saying this)

stick with NASCAR beer ...

(ARRRRRGH!!!!)

...it's what they're used to. What's that they say about changing your routine on race day???

Now, back at the house, (if it was me) I would have NASCAR beer - at least as much as they've had at ones you've been to before - plus I'd bump it up with some "special" beer to raise the bar (pun, sorry).

My friends and neighbors can always expect at least some SamA along with Lite at my house but aren't shy about asking if I having anything "new" in the garage.

That being said, if my friends are drinking cans of Lite and plastic cups Yuengling, I'm not cruising around with a handful of DFH :60 in an etched pint glass. I will eagerly break out the nice glassware if one of the guys (or gals) cares to split that nice six-pack I've set aside.

The hash rules are: there are no rules. Only I drink NASCAR
beer, usually. Most of the guys drink dark beers.
My hash will be a dice run.Roll the dice and you will do 1 to
6 possible 1.2 mile laps around the lake. Each lap will finish
with a "down down". So,the most anyone will run is just
7.2 miles,and they won't mind a bit,from what I have seen.

I am getting a 1/2 keg, as some of them will be camping for
the night. Plastic cups will be used. Food will be served, and
we'll have a bonfire/ circle ceremony.I cannot wait for my
nosy neighbors to hear "Jesus Saves" or "Chicago"......

Anyone wanting anything else can forage in the beer fridge
for "Jurassic specimens". These are all kinds of specialty,or
single bottles, left by company, and are God knows how old.
I recall Otter Creeks, Brador, and 4 magic hats in there.....

Just not on the keg content.....and the main course. The rest,
yes. I will end up getting what I like, of course.

Thanks for the advice. I want to just hand the $$ and the
list to Beave, and he can handle picking up the beer, etc.
This is fun, for now. when it stops being fun(hashes), I will
stop going. Yesterday was a bit beyond my expectations.

Victory Sunrise Weissbier

quote:
As invigorating as the morning rays of the summer sun, Sunrise Weissbier satisfies when the heat is on, too. This unfiltered, Bavarian style ale is true to its origins with all ingredients except for the water having been imported from Germany. It remains unfiltered to feature the tangy, fruity flavors of its unique yeast. The imported German malt contributes greatly to add a crisp, citric snap that makes this beer a superb summertime refresher.

It is weird drinking a beer named "Sunrise" with dinner.

I wonder if it would kill vampires???

Anyway, this is a great summer beer. Of course, being from Victory I would expect nothing less. My real question is, given a choice between Victory's, will I be more likely to choose this or Whirlwind Wit???

This does have that bright, early-morning, wake-up feeling; like when the sun first comes through the curtains. If so inclined, Iit would a good beer to bring to church Sunday morning.

Hey everyone. Its been a while since I've been here, and I have some good info to share.

Last weekend I attended a Beer and Desert Tasting seminar at Morris Arborateum (outside of Philly) given by Lew Bryson, a beer author and advocate. Months ago when I first saw the ad I thought "Hmmm, seems like an good idea. Drink a variety of beers, eat a variety of deserts, listen to a reputable author talk abouy the two. Pretty good deal for $30." Man, was that an understatement!

I had the best time there! For an hour and a half, me and thirty others had a great time! The author said more that "Drink this beer with this desert." He gave us the history of that beer style, why that specific style paired well with the specific desert, and a lot of anecdotal stories about the breweries, the brew masters, and other beer info.

About 1/3 of the crowd were beer enthusiasts like myself, 1/3 patrons of the non-profit, and 1/3 people who knew enough about beer that they wanted to learn more. There were a few surprises for me. One of the beers was a Baltic porter from Heavyweight that I had recently read about and then just heard that they're going out of business. Too bad as it made a great beer float with black raspberry ice cream. I had read about beer floats and thought they were a waste of good beer and good ice cream. Wrong! That was the best damn combination!

Other pairings were more straight forward - Guiness stout & chocolate cake, Anchor porter & biscotti, Victory hefeweizen with fruit and cheese. An Ommagang Dubble with chocolate covered pretzels, and Weyerbacher Heresy with bread pudding.

Heavyweight's going under??? Damn!!! What can I do??? I love Lunacy ...

The Guinness and cake is a safe bet, but Ommegang and chocolate covered pretzels???

Gives a new edge to "These pretzels are making me thirsty"

Yes - it is a re-schedule from the deluge. Did I happen to mention the mushroom patch that sprang up in my front yard? A Southern exposure mind you and I must of had 200 mushrooms out there. This was a new one fore me and I had nightmares about having to pull them all. Then I decided to paint the purple with orange polka-dots. Before I could buy the paints...they disappeared.

Should be fun -

Monday roll-call -

I just finally had some caffeine, so I am awake now –

JamesV – sounds like a fun time and I love the food_beer combinations – a beer float – who would have thought?

TrailOBite – how did the Hash run go? We have a hasher across the street, so I am sure that I can guess, but what the heck – let’s hear the gory details

RandyMar – thanks for the Victory review – I love their beer. Well at least the one’s I’ve tried.

RunMonkey – did you get hit with the same heat wave we have had?

Where is MM?

I want to know if Redbones will bike me some ribs. It may be
a bit of a hike,but I am a patient woman and I tip well.

Hash is 7/2. I am not going to the Niagara Falls hash 6/22
because it's too far. Sounds a bit too wild for me anyway...

It was 95 here yesterday. Way too hot for physicalities but
lying in the grass with a cold beer, watching the neighborhood
celebrate their dads, was sublime. Life is very good!

Bread pudding and potato salad are two diner foods that I love, but I have no skill for ... and cole slaw.

Fangs must be ordered. I have to be fitted. I saw the place and
bailed,as it looked like a biker's lair,and I was" corporate
casual middle-aged woman seeking fangs."....I took a hard look at where I was going and who I was and got back into
my truck.....Maybe another day....

Am learning the Wiccan ways, separate from my fang fantasy
and seeing if it is the path for me. I think there are opportunities for Wiccan themed beers galore, by the way.
