Remember, she's the Publisher, I'm the Editor, you're Contributor. And a damn fine one at that. For now, just enjoy your pint and your comic books and we'll be back soon. If you're patient, maybe we'll let you be Art Director, okay???

Okay - it's going to take a lot of work, but I'm in. Maybe it's the drugs, but I am seeing a Star Trek kind of progression here. Starting with our first year comparitive to the original series. Heavy on content and many personalities and a lot of kitsch. The next few years heavy in character development - much like The Next Generation. The Golden Age of Star Trek. A really quiet year tucked in there that I would equate with Deep Space Nine - never got into that one myself. On to The Voyager - which may be where we are now. It might be too early in the day for this, but "make it so".

Okay, so are we all admitting we're Star Trek nerds now?I'm down - gimme five! I see a book with chapters each representing a different style of beer, or brewery, or a little of both, and a different approach to each that gleans from our combined 50 or so years (and I shrug when I write that) of drinking experience, thread-activity, and reading. Just throw in whatever makes sense. Like for Pilseners, titled "Lawnmower Beer" or "NASCAR Beer" or "Lawnmower Beer or NASCAR Beer?": starts with a couple pages of hilariously scathing commentary by randy, followed by excerpts from El Thread balanced against some true-life anecdotes from whomever has them. Organize everything by beer, as opposed to a linear conversation - and throw in some actual research so we don't embarass ourselves - and it could really flow well. Sort of an everyman's beer book. "We're not experts, and we'll drink to that."

Too much work for me, but feel free to explore that ... I'll just keep cutting and pasting, reformatting and adding "n"s to "Guiness."

What are you a sci-fi snob? My love of sci-fi was passed on genetically by my Dad. I don't love it exclusively, like he does, but it's still one of my favorite genres. Of course, Star Wars was my life as a kid. I did enjoy the last three (or first three), but they do feel contrived to me now. The most enjoyable sci-fi movie I've seen lately is Serenity. You know, this conversation could seriously damage my street-cred on Threadless...

Yeah, I know. Who has the time anymore. But you know, I was planning on becoming a beer writer for quite a while there - probably somewhere in my coolrunning hiatus. I even wrote Michael Jackson once, asking for advice - nuthin.

quote: Originally posted by randymar: Cream stout ice cream swirled with chocolate ice cream We've no idea how many Ben & Jerry's fans might be beer enthusiasts, but we suspect that once you've tasted the way we've blended real cream stout ice cream with a whirl of chocolate ice cream, you might soon be raising more than a few pints of Black & Tan - and more than a few brew-aha!'s too.
First of all, the label misrepresents. It's does not have the traditional Black and Tan coloring. At first glance it looks more like a Vanilla Fudge Swirl, but closer examination reveals a creaminess to the "tan" portion, much the the head on Sam A cream stout (not the cinnamon color of the foam on Guiness). There is, however that wonderful aroma of a stout in there - especially when you down about half of the pint and can really get your nose in there. It's like I met Cindy on a ski trip instead of in a Florida beach bar. Mariel took a hearty whiff and picked up coffee and chocolate*. The chocolate fudge swirls are dark, rich and gooey. Not extra sweet, but just enough, with a slight bitterness. I'm thinking Dove Bar dark chocolate. The only disappointment was toward the end. When the ice cream and fudge melted and mingled, the puddle in the bowl was not a nice milk chocolate color, but seemed a bit, I don't know, greyish (???). Not a pleasant finish to a nice treat. I would get it again, but I'll have to try "Turtle Soup" next. *She then compared it to a real bear and said the real one was more "fruity." She's destined to be the "editor" for BEER 2020

I'm glad Ben & Jerry's did it - they're the first to package it, right? We have a local shop - Amy's - that does a Guinness (<"nn") ice cream that's kind of amazing. They actually had a cow when B&J moved in around the corner downtown and then started having regular free-ice-cream days??!! So they countered with their own. Free ice-cream in Austin is becoming a pretty regular thing. Still haven't seen Black & Tan in the stores here, and they don't sell it at the B&J store either...
