Well - we are back online here and I must say it is way too quiet in BEER. I think perhaps a recipe is in order:Ginger Orange Tofu Teriyaki 1/4 cup low-sodium soy sauce 3 tablespoons rice wine vinegar 2 tablespoons honey 2 cloves garlic, minced 2 tablespoons minced fresh ginger 1 teaspoon orange zest 2 tablespoons orange juice 1 pound firm tofu, cut across in 1/4 inch slices Preheat oven to 400 degrees F. In a 6 x 9-inch baking dish, combine the soy sauce, rice wine vinegar, honey, garlic, ginger, orange zest and orange juice. Whisk until the honey is dissolved. Lay the tofu slices in the baking dish, overlapping slightly as necessary. Spoon sauce on top of the tofu. Bake for 30 minutes, or until the tofu is lightly browned and somewhat firmer. Serve the tofu cutlets fanned out on each plate. Makes 4 servings.

Knowing my feelings on tofu ...Okay, for your sake, Princess, I may (I repeat "MAY") try it, but not when D'Wife and D'Kid are around.

Because, you know, they won't like tofu, either.

I also ran in the Broad Street Run with a chip time of 1:18, and then proceeded to drink a few afterwards. Nothing exotic, mosly Yuengling.Has anyone read "Travels with Barley" by Ken Wells? Its a pretty good read about the author's travel down the Mississippi in search of the ultimate beer bar. It has a lot of other info as well.

Sounds good. You've been in here before, right???A quick check shows that my library DOES indeed have it. When I'm done with the sharks, I got some Vonnegut to read (that should only take a day or two, I memory serves me right), then I'll dive into this.

"Man Walks Into A Pub" by Pete Brown is a great romp, too. It's a British book about British pub life, but very relatable. Hard to find, but they stock it at A Common Reader.Miami SUCKS. I had Midas Touch over the weekend. Very nice - definitely vinous, with an almost cherry-like undercurrent. Spicy, too. But one per sitting is more than enough - I had to have a St. Arnold Lawnmower Beer to wash it down afterwards.

Ha - I have a love/hate thing with tofu. The thing about tofu is that it has to be taken seriously: chuck it into any old pot with a bunch of vegetables and some sauce and you'll probably be USC. Done properly it can be amazing. My wife has a knack for tofu, so I usually let her do it.LT - I'm gonna set her on that recipe. Sounds great...

Wait, low-sodium soy sauce??! Err.... I find that if you just go buy any other brand than Kikkoman you're already getting less sodium - and better flavor.

Word to the wise, kids ...As much as we all appreciate our "good" beers, don't try to share a six-pack Stone IPA with someone who is just going to drink it right out of the bottle.

HAR. Stone IPA is an amazing beer. Hey, I think you asked me about that huge oak-aged AB beer a while back. Never had it (for obvious reasons - even I have beer-limits) but apparently it's worth every penny...

Mojo IPA is pretty close to DFH :60. I bit more golden in color and not so hopped up. There's a nice lemony-ness to it, with a sort of a berry texture. Yes, I said "texture." You know that certain tastes have a way they feel in your mouth. Sour feels like little pins; spicy feels like hot wires; donuts feel fuzzy. Berries feel round. Now, the berries I sensed in Mojo IPA weren't "jelly" berries (raspberry, strawberry, blueberry) but "candle" berries (juniper, bayberry); smaller, harder and rounder. They gave Mojo a nice earthiness, a welcoming herbality. Mojo was a nice blend of summer day bike ride (for me in clear sky NJ) and winter night candle cuddle (for my rain-soaked friend in MA).

Who makes Mojo IPA? I agree with you completely about textures, although strong berry flavors feel more fuzzy to me than round. I forget: do you get New Blegium (Fat Tire) beers up there? They have a Frambozen that comes out for Thanksgiving that is fuzzy and chewy and almost puckeringly tart. What about Atlantic Brewing's Blueberry Ale? That beer is round.

Boulder Beer, CO quote: I agree with you completely about textures, although strong berry flavors feel more fuzzy to me than round.
Could be the little fuzzies on strawberries and raspberries. Technically, peaches and apricots are berries too. quote: I forget: do you get New Belgium (Fat Tire) beers up there? They have a Frambozen that comes out for Thanksgiving that is fuzzy and chewy and almost puckeringly tart.
Nope quote: What about Atlantic Brewing's Blueberry Ale? That beer is round.
The short answer is, no.Keep in mind that I live near Hammonton, NJ, which is the Blueberry Capital of the World. There are tons of things made from blueberries around here - jams, wine, dyes for yarn, etc. Blueberry is a tricky flavor to work with. If it's too subtle, it either gets lost or confused with a sweet grape; if it's too much - and it doesn't take much, to be TOO much - it's just that God-awful Boo-Berry flavor. I am afraid that the blueberry ale will run too close to the cereal aisle.

I may be one of the few here in MA not complaining about the rain.My house has never been cleaner, there is so much more time to read and the mittens just seem to be knitting themselves. What does this have to do with BEER? Who cleans, reads or knits without a beer? • House cleaning - Harpoon IPA • Reading - something from Magic Hat - there are a few that work here • Knitting - SN Celebration

Well, you see, I try to get all my cleaning / laundry done in the AM on Saturday - preferably by 11:00 - so I can do the lawn / garden for the rest of the afternoon. Once I crack that first one open at 4:00, I'm done for the day. It's time for the grill. Anything not completed by then will have to wait until Sunday; or if it IS Sunday, wait till next week.
