OCD - it isn't always pretty, but then again I do seem to remember someone in this thread who arranged the tables in the resteraunt of employment into atomic molecule patterns. I also remember being very impressed by this.

You may need to swing back long enough to watch American idol and where a Narnia mitten.

I do enjoy Idol right up until the end, then I just get the results from the wife the next day. Anyways, nothing can compare with House...

You still don't get it do you??? Do something nice for LT and maybe she'll knit you a mitten ... it may not be a NARNIA mitten, but it will be more mittens than you've gotten from her before, won't it??? That's how it works ... I do something nice for her, she does something nice for me, sometimes we do something nice for each other at the same time. So try this: Think of a gesture to offer LT, just to be nice - not expecting any compensation - and see what happens. Maybe you should try that with the world at large as well.

I could do that it if the molecules were small, like water, H2O. It would be REALLY impressive to do a caffeine molecule in Starbucks!!!

Oh no - MM has always been thoughtful and nice. I even have one of his t-shirts. I guess a couple of un-matched mittens may be headed towards Texas. By the way - I am not sure that Austin is really Texas.

I defer to the Lady. As you wish, Princess.Austin is definitely Texas; San Antonio and El Paso are Mexico.

Before I start my day and go for a run, I thought that you all might want to know - I did finish "Mill on the Floss". Maggie dies - but not alone as Tom was with her. In fact they both drown. Phillip never marries and Stephen marries her cousin Lucy. I think that I'll get something less dramatic for my next read.

I watched an episode about garlic the other week and was hassling everybody I know with random but - in my opinion - vitally important garlic trivia for days. I did also see the beer episode, but was unfortunately busy doing housework with the wife while it was on, so I missed a lot. A couple of things bothered me: first, unless I missed it (which is possible) he never mentioned the style of beer he was brewing. I assume it was an ale because he'd have to refrigerate a lager, but did anyone catch what kind it was? Second, he used a plastic bucket for fermentation. From what I understand, fermenting beer isn't as well protected from possible outside interference (temperature variations), etc.) in plastic as it is in glass. Also, plastic breathes a little more than a rubber-corked carboy, which can affect flavor. It just seems to me that if you're going to brew beer, do it the best way the first time. It's not like a carboy costs that much more than a bucket. Either way, my experience with brewing is limited to two successful attempts, so I'm not the best person to make comments on this. The one thing I did like about his show is that he made brewing look relatively easy, which it is. To many - including myself - the equipment, the ingredients, the steps involved, can all seem overwhelming, when the truth is that beer-making is essentially simple. Highly controlled, but simple. SCD? How much experience do you have? What do you think about plastic/glass?
Now, the link has long been lost, but I did some research and I re-found it. quote: from foodtv.comGood Eats - Amber Waves Join Host Alton Brown and learn everything you need to know about yeast, barley, hops and the hardware you need to bring them together to produce that most American of foods: Beer. Free Comic Book Day: A Tale of Two StoresStormWatch Comics - Berlin, NJ I arrived just about five minutes after opening at 11:00 Saturday morning. A giant "Free Comic Book Day" poster covered each window and the door. Being a bright sunny day, I couldn't even tell if they were open at first. I opened the door to a jingling bell. I hadn't been in here in a few years, but it looked the same; dark, cramped, boxes of books and action figures stacked on the counter, posters covering all the walls, some Japanimation DVD running in the background. "Free Comic Book day??? Am I first???" "Yes it is and yes you are. You get a choice of three in the displays there, but since you're first, I'll let you take five. Plus everyone can help themselves to the Dollar Bin as well." Three??? Five??? I had only prepared to take one, and I still couldn't decide between "Dead @ 17" and "Buzzboy" I ended up dragging off "Dead @ 17", "BuzzBoy", "Free Scott Pilgrim", "Superman / Batman #1" and the "Star Wars / Conan" flip book. I passed on the dollar bin. Once I started in, I wouldn't be out for hours, but I had things to do. I felt guilty about peeling out of there without paying for anything, so I browsed a bit. The owner / manager guy was very helpful and even offered to order The Tick for me. I declined but did assure him I would return another day. I walked out and realized I had forgotten to get the Simpsons book. No problem I thought, I'll get it at ... Hall of Heroes - Voorhees, NJ The "mall" comic book store, bright and open with comics, action figures, DVDs, T-shirts, everything. But no "Free Comic Book Day" display, only a small flyer taped to the glass. "Where are the 'Free Comic Book Day' bokks?" I asked. "Behind the counter. You get one. Would you like ..." and he rattled off all the titles I had NO interest in, in that condescending tone that would make any kid think that these were the only books that mattered. Suppose I had come in with my daughter and she REALLY REALLY wanted "Donald Duck" or "Owly: Breaking the Ice" or "Amelia Rules?" We'd be out of luck. I took the Simpsons book and split. Epilogue: Mariel is keeping the Simpsons book for herself
