If you delete two of your repeat posts, we will gladly consider a 47 page summary - it will of course be your loss though. Much like reading the Cliff Notes of "The Mill on the Floss".

Knitting before beer? Bloody hell. I suppose I'd better start knitting then.
But seriously - Narnia mitten: what is it, and can I have one?

randy - I am personally always on the lookout for old Judge Dredd comics. But it looks like the free ones are only the new one's, yeah?

I believe that is as in "The Secret of..."

and they are mittens, ie for your hands so wouldn't you require two?

Wait you live in Mexas where it doesn't get cold so I imagine you plan to use it as a huggy.

Okay, so what's the deal with "The Mill on the Floss"? Sounds like an "erotic journey from Milan to Minsk" kinda book.
I'm currently on "The Time Traveller's Wife". Great so far...

Oh, yeah, you live in Mexas where it never gets cold. So what do you plan to do with it use it as a beer huggy.

Strike One - I believe that it is actually "The Chronicles of Narnia"

And actually the mitten was not so much inspired by the movie, but rather knit while I was watching the movie - hence the name.

Strike Two - I am doing a mitten project - 200 single mittens that do not match as a visual depiction of diversity

Nope - knit a man a mitten and his hand will be warm for a few years - teach a man to knit and he'll be hip and admired.

As your friend I can only teach you to knit.

And yes - a beer cozy can be knit. As well as small dog sweaters.

Okay, one more time:

Okay, it's like this ..

You're new to the neighborhood ... there's a pub - bar, tavern, what have you - on the corner.

You walk in, take a look around ... the place is tidy, the people seem nice, there's a good menu on the wall, the jukebox is playing some nice tunes

Being new, you don't want to sit right next to the "regulars", but you don't want to sit in the corner, or in a booth either ... you pull up to the bar with a comfortable space between

The bartender (that's me) asks "what would you like?" ... you play it safe and ask for a Coors Light or something else "easily available nationwide"

"Bottle or draft???"

Not knowing when the lines had last been cleaned - although the place looks nice enough - you reply "Bottle, please."

I reach into the ice chest, pull out your beer, crack it open and hand it and clean, chilled glass to you ... you put a bill on the bar.

"Thanks, but we don't charge for NASCAR Beer here."

"What's NASCAR beer???"

"Miller, Bud, Coors ... whatever you see on the sides of NAS-cars."

"But I like <name> ..."

"Here try this then ... no charge" and I pour you a Pilsner Urquell.

"This is Pilnser Urquell. It's from Czechoslovakia - or what used to be - I think it's in the Czech Republic, now. Anyway ... This is the ORIGINAL pilsner, a kind of lager, that all those NASCAR beers used to be like. You DO know the difference between lager and ale don't you???"

"Sam Adams is Ale and Yeungling is Lager, right???"

"MikeMills, help [him] out ... MM's our historian. He's from England, but he lives in Texas now. The one kind of offsets the other."

At this point MikeMills gives a brief history lesson; threalman equates this to one of his homebrew batches; La Tortuga puts down her knitting and offers some interesting food and beer pairings.

"Well, I really like enjoy a nice cold, dark beer."

Now, we get into the hoppy vs. malty discussion / argurments ... Paulaner vs. Hacker-Pshorr is bound to come up ... Calagione vs. Papazian ... packaging vs. taste vs. price ...

See, we're all friends now.

But you've totally missed the point and many others, because you didn't want to take the time and read 47 pages.

Can I skip the middle man and just use the small dog as a beer cozy? Wait that would make the beer warm, never mind. (It was a Jack London flash back)
