I was wonder if I should then refer to my lady friend simple as MLF but that comes dangerously close to MiLF.

There's nothing wrong with coming "dangerously close to a MiLF" I'll talk it over with LT, but I think we can accept MyLF, kinda taking a Lynyrd Skynyrd route on the MiLF theme.

This weekend after running the Eastern States 20 milers I picked up 5 gallons of maple sap.I boiled all of it, even though the guy said I didn't need to since it was hit with UV rays. Then I used it to brew a batch of Kolsch. It was too hot to pitch the yeast so I let it sit over night and pitch the yeast in the morning. Unforunately, my fermentor was leaking. Not a lot but enough that I didn't want it continuing through out the fermentation. So I had to clean a carboy and rack it quickly into glass. All is good at this time it is bubbling away. I think this is going to turn out extremely while. I didn't use a lot of hops becuase I was afraid they could over power the maple.

Price is $25 in advance and $30 at the door. Beware of drunken Irishmen with cake on their face and I highly suggest taking the "T". You all are inspiring me.Tonight's beer is Magic Hat's spring time offering/bid for for greater feminine market share, Hi.P.A. I got it in honor of the crazy party the frogs were having in the woods earlier. It's light and refreshing and bright but doesn't ask too much of you or press for depth. It's a bit like Reese Witherspoon. There's a nose on it like the smell of my dog's paw, if she walked through some overripe apricots. It's sweeter and less bitter than I generally go for, but I really do like the lightness and the Reese Witherspoon/apricots/dog paw effect and will buy it again.

A friend at work told me about something he read concerning beer and milk. Basically, the research suggested we should drink more beer and less milk. My prompt response was to ask how beer would be on my cereal? Okay, so if you were going to put beer on your cereal, which kind would you choose?

Not so fast there cowboy (or cowgirl as the case may be). This is not an easy substitution. First of all there is a timing factor to consider. More beer and less milk (as you have noted) but what time of day? As much as I love beer, there is no place for it on my morning grain. Then, there is the question of where coffee fits into this and whether you have based your calculations on a workday, week-end or when on vacation. I have really not had enough coffee – with milk in it – to continue this line of thinking. What part of the AT do you hike?

I read Bryson's book on the AT. I can't believe he didn't actually finish it. He talked about beer a couple times.

I was thinking about your posting name. You aren't British by any chance are you? No need to apologize - I was just asking as you and MM may want to discuss tea, British Ales or other such natty things.

I've actually probably had more tea than beer in the last few weeks (months? I don't even know any more...) I think ultimately, when it all comes down to it, tea-drinking is more fundamentally British than a pint of bitter down at the Duck and Funnel. Yes, beer is better at lubricating and diffusing life's difficulties at the end of the day, but when a Brit is really in a bind he needs a bloody good cup of the old rosey, and quickly.
