Well, I've very diligently followed the competitive 1/2 marathon program prior to my race this Sunday, Oct. 14th. I was really pleased with my interval times, but unfortunately, I couldn't ignore my worsening shin splint pain during week 11 and was forced to take the week off as of the Tues workout (off from Tues to Wed, wks 11-12). Now that I'm pain free, I've run 6 miles Wed, 10 miles Thurs, and 6 miles Friday. I'm a little sore after my comeback, but what I'd really like to know is how much of my fitness can I expect to have lost for my race. My plan was for a 1:23 finish time, but how should I adjust my race pace after my time off?
Thanks!
