Good morning!

Good luck to the racers today!

Joe - have fun on your long run...looks like you got started nice and early.

I went out for 10 yesterday but called it quits at about 8.5. It was hot and humid and I just plain ran out of energy. Disappointing... 2 weeks until race day for me...holy ****!

Well Joe, my Gators lost but played a heck of a game. I'm proud of them. I see your Aggies had a close one also but came out on top.

Checking in after my run... Completed my 7 mile LSD at a 12:15 pace. Last 3 miles were negative splits and started raining the last 2 miles! Afterwards headed to the gym to clean up.

Jeep725 - Yep, started about 1/2 hour earlier than usual. Those last couple of weeks creep up on us pretty fast huh?

Peg312 - Sorry you have to work again today! Actually I was in the office yesterday myself but was too busy to be online. I did see your email. How long will you have to work today? Hope you don't miss out on the Texan's game. If you do, the Cowboys play tomorrow night!

Chuck43 - I fell asleep watching the Gators/LSU game (Aggie game wasn't being televised here). Your Gators were ahead but LSU was gaining momentum when I dozed off.

Hi guys, got a great 5 miler in this morning without any pain...sure is nice to be pain free...I should probably keep my mouth shut so I don't jinx myself.
We had a great time in Freeport Maine yesterday. There is a North Face and Patagonia outlet there as well as the LL Bean outlet - took everything I had not to buy the whole store! Got a few cold weather items, but as Ctmama says, certainly didn't need it this morning. Hot and humid, but feels like a little front came through this afternoon and hopefully on to cooler weather for us new englanders.
Hope everyone had a good race weekend - wbertha, loved your race report. Can't wait to hear the others.

Hi everyone, I did it Yipee!! Here's my recap.

We got there this morning and took the shuttle bus to the starting line. It was already getting warm, I knew we were in for a hot run. We got started right on time, Julie and I ran together until mile 5 when she decided to walk alittle. My plan was to run the whole thing so I put my headphones on and went on. I did ok until the water stop at mile 9. I was trying to eat 2 shot bloks and drink some water while running. Well, the water went up my nose and I got choked. Before I knew it I was spitting shot bloks everywhere and coughing and carrying on. I started walking till I got everything under control and then took off again. I don't know why but I just couldn't seem to get going again. I was so hot and tired. I took several walk breaks till mile 12 then I ran with another lady to the finish line. We had to stop right after we went thru the shoot so they could take our chip timing thing off. Well when I stopped I got really dizzy. I was ok after a few seconds but I thought to myself, wouldn't that be nice to fall out right here at the finish line. I waited around for my friends to finish and then came home and took a cool shower and have just been relaxing. DH just went to get some steaks for the grill and I have some beer iced down, so its time to celebrate. I'm really stiff but don't have any injuries so thats the main thing. My offical time was 2:08:16. Here's my MB entry, I forgot to turn the GPS off when I finished.

Imogene- can't wait to hear how your race went.

Hope everyone else is doing ok.

Hey gang...

Nothing happening today. Just resting and relaxing after yesterday's 7.2 miles. I am thinking of changing up my running routine to the extent that I may run after work, outside for awhile... I am not all too keen on running on the ol' TM... Just not my thing.

Anyway, I am a bit somber... News is not so great at home with my mom (MS and diabetes) and my uncle (metastatic cancer)... Being 11 hours and 5 states away puts things in some kind of odd perspective.

Sitting back and enjoying a Great Divide Titan IPA... The occasional beer is slowly finding its way back into my life. I am odd, I know...LOL

Anyway, I am not here to dump on y'all... Here's to a brighter day tomorrow.

Be well,
Dan

Hi All,
I'm sorry that I'm not posting until now. I know that some of you have probably hit refresh a couple of times waiting to see if I've posted.

We got the start in plenty of time and had been planning to run together (my roommate and I) but then she went to the bathroom and I went to check our baggage, and there were 5,000 people and NO way of finding each other. Because I was waiting by the bathrooms looking for her, I got to the start area late and I was stuck in with walkers and slower runners -- and I was carrying her waterbottle. I passed that off to a friend who was running to the race as a training run at around mile 1 when I passed her. The first two or three miles was all about getting to a spot where I could run without running INTO someone.

I forgot to start my watch when I first crossed the start line, so I knew that my pace was somewhere between the number on the mile markers and the number on my watch. This gave me a good buffer zone and I continued to pass people until mile 10ish when the first person passed me. But my pace was fast and I was feeling steadier than I thought I would at that pace.

At mile 10, I knew that I was fast, and I knew that my legs were starting to really hurt. But I also knew that I didn't care. At mile 11.5 we passed behind the finish and could hear the loudspeaker so the last bit was a tease. I kept trying to push past people on mile 10, but at that point it was really all mental. I passed the turn into the finish and saw my friend and boyfriend cheering and that pushed me into a sprint.

The clock time went under the ribbon was 1:49:something -- and my official chip time was 1:46:31 -- TOTALLY PUMPED. That is almost 10 minutes faster than I thought I could do it!! I was shaky and tired and ill at the finish. But then we went and had brunch, and now I'm better... much better.

Hope you're all well.

Imogene and Sheila, great race reports and awesome times!!! Treat your self to a good few days of RnR, great job.

I got my 6 in tonight and thought almost a year ago I was in ICU for 12 hours but today I'm working my way back and I'm up to 6 miles.

Dan, I wish you the best and we're praying for you and your family.

Joe, Ashley and myself fell asleep after the game also but forgot to put our puppies in their crate and they eat one of our couch cushions! That's something to wake up to. Needless to say I needed two cups of coffee after seeing that.

Peg, good luck on getting a run in.

Jeep. i know what ya mean about hot and humid, good job getting 8 in. Maybe oneday Fall will get here. Weather wise

Imogene - I was holy crapping at Sheila's time till I saw your's - WOW!!! Especially with starting late and being stuck in the crowd!

GREAT REPORTS - Congrats again to both of you!

Joe - so are you getting nervous like everyone else did now that you're so close?

Hey gang,

Wow Shelia and imogene great race reports. You guys are like way fast! Way to go!!! Yeah!!! (ovation)

Joe, you getting nervous about next weekend? Don't worry you will be fine.

you all sound like your doing well with the training. Good job on getting out there and runining.

No running for me today as it was a nasty day the wind was howling and it was pouring rain. My oldest son had a friend over who picks on the younger son so I really could not leave them alone to run and my DH was working.Planning on 8 tomorrow or 10 if it's a good day.

okay back to homework.

Good morning, gang...

Jut a quickie for right now... Pla is to run after work today. Figures that today would bring record-breaking heat... Incredible.

Not much to report this weekend, just kind of kicked back some.

Legs feel relatively good, so I am looking forward to getting out there after work.

I will be back later on.

Be well, y'all!

Good morning everyone, first of all AWESOME JOB Imogene. You rock. that was a great finish time. I went to bed about 7 last night and now I'm up bright and early. I'm really stiff this morning but nothing injured. I'm gonna enjoy my vacation and just relax.

Did everyone hear about the chicago marathon, I can't believe one guy died and 300 got taken to the hospital and they called the race off 1/2 way thru.

Its just so hot for this time of year.

Hope everyones Mon. is starting off good.

Way to go Sheila and Imogene! You both ran fantastic races and should be feeling great about your efforts and your times!

Sheila -- gotta watch out for those shot blocks! Probably not funny at the time, but one of those things that makes the whole experience memorable.

And Imogene -- brunch makes EVERYthing feel better

Joe -- guess I didn't realize your half was coming up so fast. That's great! Sounds like you're right on track to be ready for it.

Just read an article about the Chicago Marathon this past weekend and seems that they cancelled it partway through due to the heat and humidity. Lots of runners with heat exhaustion, and one died. Good reminder to be smart, even on race day!

I'm back to being able to walk with less pain, but running is out of the question right now. My back is sore from walking funny to try to avoid tweaking the hip flexor. Not sure what this is going to do to my half plans, especially the one on Nov. 4. Wish I hadn't already paid for both of them. Will head to the gym today to focus on upper body and core. Told hubby I might try to get in the pool, and he told me to stay in the shallow end so I don't drown! Isn't he the funny hubby?!

Morning peeps! Just a couple of 2 milers this week leading up to this weekend's virtual HM

Dan - We'll all keep you and your family in our prayers. Enjoy that run in the heat today!

Imogene - Hey Speed Racer!!! An 8:08 pace for 13.1 miles! Told ya you were a speed racer! You really rocked!!! So any pics? When's your next race?

Chuck43 - Sounds like you've made great progress!

Creative1 - No, not nervous as it's a virtual "race". More of a run done in the spirit of friendship as I'll be running by myself but know that there are others around the world doing the same thing. As of now, there are over 1050 runners in 45 countries covering 6 continents!

Corrinabear - I'll be nervous in about 4 weeks time as the time for my San Antonio Half Marathon nears! How about you #933? ;-)

Sheila - Again, congrats on your half yesterday.... Wow, I hadn't heard about Chicago!

Carol40 - Sounds like you're beginning to feel better! However don't push it or you may end up missing both races! Oh and yes, stay in the shallow end... "Are you ready for some football?"

Good morning all!

Sheila and Imogene...great job! WOW! Awesome times!

Dan...prayers for you and your family...keep us posted...sorry that you are so far from "home" and family...that must make it so much harder...

Decided to bike yesterday and did 8 miles...wow, all I can say is that there are muscles hurting today that I didn't remember having! LOL! Hoping to get in a run tonight, probably 3.2 and then DH is out of town till Friday so probably no running for me...we'll see if I can get our neighbor to come over during the week...

Got some cool weather gear this weekend, couple of long shirts and a pair of pants/tights...certainly didn't need them though...

Have a great day all...

Great races Sheila and Imogene --- I know my 1/2 is still a few weeks away, but I got butterflies just thinking about it while reading your reports!

Ran a VERY easy 4 on Saturday with a friend & did a 7 miler yesterday on my own. Why are there days when it's so HARD??? Last Sunday ran 13 & felt great, but yesterday had to push to finish 7! Go figure.

Monday's an off-day for me...great runs to you all.

off day for me today. I might go ride my bike, it's a nice day here.

Joe, I'm on the motion base. I'm not sure how to or if you can read it, but I'm loaded. Thats a good way to have a running log I like it.

Alex, Do you like running in the daytime better than running at night? I do, even if it's a little warmer I'm more relaxed.

Spicegeek Was on the calender for a race, has anyone heard anything?

Awesome work Imogene and Sheila. You ladies rocked!

I managed 3 miles (instead of my planned 5) on the dreadmill last night at 26:52. I could have ran outside but Desperate Housewives was on and I didn't want to miss out.

Happy Monday everyone!
