Hello all,
Did 40 min. of crosstrainer/bike, followed be ab work. I didn't have time to do weights. Tonight I get to take it easy. Maybe I'll even go to sleep early.

Tom loved your race report. Next year I'll try to make that race.

Have a good day all.
Patty

Hello all,

How am I feeling? I guess over all okay. I'm tired during most of my workouts. I have been pushing myself. Not crazy, enough to know I'll have not just enough to finish, but maybe even some to push faster. Today I ran 3 miles on the treadmill. The middle one was hill work. I did 3 4.0 slants and the whole thing was done at a 12:45 mm pace. I didn't slow down on the hills. It took a lot to convince myself to finish. I was glad I did.

Tom are you recovered from your race? I'm glad the knee held up.

Patty

HELLO ALL!!!!!!!!

IP...100 laps of swimming!

LINDA!!!!!!!!!! HOW YA DOING??

TOM! ROCK THE CASBAH!

OK so this week I did my 5 on monday like a good little girl and made some speed racer times...I was shocked. Then I did my weights. Tuesday...I went to do my 5 and OH MY GOD it was hot, had 2 bottles on my fuel belt, but that wasn't going to be enough to make me not panic over dehydration...that combined with just exhaustion from the previous day, I stopped at 4...don't feel bad about it either Then I did some weights. Wed. was rest day. Yesterday I did a lovely 3 mile trail run. It was awesome! Today I have 3, but gonna do 4 to make up for that mile I dropped on Tuesday. (it'll be my warm up ) Tomorrow is 8. I don't know what it is, if it's the change in my routine or the addition of weights, but all of the sudden I'm flying on some of the laps and I don't even feel like it. (course I guess my garmin could be lying)

ROCK THE CASBAH PEOPLE!

------------------
I AM SUPERGIRL

SHELL//.........it's called the Training Effect........they get easier the more you run,,,,,,ironic, ish't it??
......the temptation is to run 'em when you're hurt or fatigued (cause it's such a NEAT feeling).....the hard part is to NOT run 'em......more irony,,,,,
........you are doing Exceptional, just remember to back off if needed,,,,,,

..........when I tore out the ankle-ligaments in 1980 I felt invincible, could race 10-K and 10-milers without serious extra training,,,,,,,and BAM, a Fall on an uneven Trail brought it all to a Halt......very devastating......

........so, remember what you learned early on with the shins and knees, when you need to back off, you gotta do it (and cross-train)......
..........that said, EXCELLENT RUNNING........you are SuperGirl//////

................Rock On..........

good report from the doc, down to maintenance dose on the steroids. don't go back til June 21... however he said maybe I had a bit of an infection.. he said that I recovered nicely & it was probably due to the roids. So if that happens again to increase them. Have realized that my headaches extra are my sinuses... so am arming myself with Sudafed Sinus Headache.... haven't run since Monday... did weights once this week so far, guess it won't kill me to take it easy, huh?

Shell - woohoo you're doing awesome!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

IP - don't burn yourself out ok?? how is the asthma behaving lately?

I went to the Y & did the weights today. Felt ok before, & felt tired after & a headache after again.. took a sinus pill before.. don't know, maybe I'm not completely over whatever I had.. however, my back, neck was starting to feel tweaked again so needed to do it. Feels much better after doing the weights

I also need to run a little since I haven't done it since last Monday.. but I know I need to rest too.. partially I wonder if the lack of is creating this problem... so after all the Easter festivities tomorrow morning I may try to run some, but will take it really easy. or whether I should just take a nap & see if it helps....

Great job Shell!! Enjoy your rest!

Ok so I have another theory I wonder if the tiredness after weight training is a symptom because I haven't been using my inhaler after... I did notice I was breathing hard on a couple of those machines....

This morning I had a tiny headache, no sinus problems, seemed more like peakflows.. check & sure enough I was registering between 375-425... after meds felt better.. after some housework went outside for a run/walk.. gorgeous day, a breeze & no smoke - woohoo!!

Decided to take it easy, but you know me... did 1 mile walk warmup & was pleasantly surprised how quickly I was walking in all did 3.48 miles in 54:18 which is a total avg of 15:47? i think... 8:29 max pace at a point in time... here's what I did:

mile 1 - 19:47 (walk)
mile 2 - 12:26 run/walk
mile 3 - 13: 48 run/walk
.48 - 17:20 mostly walk, tiny bit run...

here is the run/walking : 7 1/2 R; 2 1/2 W; 5R/ 3W/2R/2W/4 1/2 R; 4W/1R/3W

I made it farther up the hills than I was doing pre-treadmilling.. however I got tired faster... nice to be outside, very enjoyable

Hello all,
Ok so I've been shirking. Actually I was into a book and didn't want to put it down all weekend. So no running or swimming Saturday like I should have. This morning I was up too late to go to the gym so I'll go after work.

Shell great runs last week.

Linda great news from the doc. I get headaches when I haven't consumed enough water. Could that be the problem? My asthma is doing okay. I haven't run outside recently so maybe it will get worse when I do.

I hope everyone had a good Easter.
Patty

Rested yesterday, see I do listen. I was feeling tired last night, so decided to go to bed about 9:45.... really had been thinking about a run all day, but decided I should listen to the body. not sure if my problem was overtraining or not, the kids, then the hubby seemed to have similar exhaustion like me (after I did)... like I passed some virus on. but thought i'd try to not push myself right now. so thinking maybe 2 days weights, 3 days running.... that would be 1 less of each (of what I really want to do).

This morning I went to the Y, used my inhaler before, did 10 minutes walking on the TM to warmup, then did weights, then inhaler.. hmmm no tiredness after.. guess I've figured out what the problem was.. the times I had the tiredness, I didn't warmup before or use the inhaler.

LL//........sounds like a Plan in the Making........3/2 makes sense, and you can tack on something else if you need to.....
.......right now, I think you need two Rest Days.......like I said, just mess around with it, see if you get more stamina on the Work-Out Days, this may make for better runs......
.........5-days a week is a good base........
..............nice Thinking........hope you enjoy some Peak Experiences...........

2.82 mile on the TM this morning in 50 minutes.. 2 miles of it running in 32 minutes 15 min at 3.6; 5 min at 3.8; 10 min at 4.0; 1 min at 3.8; 1 min at 3.6 ... 15 minutes warmup walking / 3 min cooldown (used those 2 minutes of slowing down the running as cooldown too...just wanted to get to the 2 mile running mark )

Hello,
I've been pretty good the past few days. Monday night 1/2 hr on elliptical/hill & 1/2 hr on bike followed by weights/abs. Tuesday morning ran 3 miles in 36 min. with the middle one as intervals. Tuesday night in the pool only 36 laps but 1/4 were speed laps. This morning was 24 min on elliptical/hill & 24 min on bike. I only had time for ab work so after tomorrows run I hope to do weights. Tonight maybe I'll actually swim 100 laps. I haven't actually made that goal yet.

Linda you are really doing well. Keep it up woman.

Tom how is your running going?

Patty

IP - 36 laps swimming, 100 laps it all sounds like a lot to me!

I got on the TM last night a 9pm.. first time I've been able to get on it in the evening & not feel tired. yay! anyway 50 minutes - 15 warmup walking/32 minutes running/3 min c/d walking for 2.91 miles, 2.1 miles running... running was 10 at 3.8/ 20 at 4.0/ 1 at 3.8/ 1 at 3.6

hmmm that 2 minutes cooling down while still running really seems to be helping the cooldown, may just have to keep doing it. really felt like I've bounced back, it was a very enjoyable run

Hello all,
Well Wed. night I didn't swim and Thurs. morning I only ran 2 miles. The run involved hills on the treadmill. Thurs. night I swam 60 laps. There were some sprints, but I started with 20 laps straight and finished with the same. The last 20 were done in about 13 min. This means that Sat. I could do 22 laps in my 15 min. swim part of the tri. This is good news. I think I will make a definate improvement over last year. Today is a rest day.

Have a good day all.
Patty
