well I did take it easy on the weights... but that's not a normal plan. Feeling fine today.

did 1 hour on the treadmill this a.m, 3.5 miles - 40 of it running straight... 15 at 3.8/ 20 at 4.0/ 5 at 3.9... the 4.0 felt amazing so I'm continuing this increase the speed in increments thing... hopefully that avoids too much pushing.

Hello all,
Linda I looked at your post to me & realized my last post was inaccurate. I ran 2.2 miles then had to walk .2 miles. I usually do .2 miles walking for both warmup & cool down. Oh so the dessert was good. Nice excuse. Next time you'll be telling us you just wanted to spend time with the family. I know it may seem like the kettle calling the pot black and all, but it's okay to miss a work out. That's what I told myself today.

I ran 4 miles on Sat. No swimming since Wed. night and tonight I have a meeting so it will be Wed again before I can get back to it. No gym this am either. I guess my motivation needed to be reset. Tomorrow I will not slack.

Welcome Debbie. Tom just keeps us on track. Sometimes he needs to smack us around, but as we're on the internet he settles for all caps.

Shell that is a tough schedule. Does he realize you are not a competitive runner? If you get feeling sapped talk to him about adjusting it. Good luck though, a 1/2 mary is a good distance. A full one on the other hand is just insane.

Have a good day all.
Patty

Hello all,

Linda & Shell you're both doing great. Shell I have kayanos and I love them.

Well I ran 3 miles yesterday. The middle mile was intervals and the total time for it was 11:14. That is my best. Hope I can continue in this direction. Today was crosstraining but no weights. Tonight back to the gym for a swim.

Have a good day all.

Hello,

The intention was to run 3 miles with the middle one including hills. I dressed in shorts & it was chilly, so off to the gym. I did the treadmill using the slant to imitate 3 hills. I tried not to slow down but ended up do so and lessening the hills. It was an attempt at any rate. I did swim a little more than a mile last night. I'm on track for a good tri.

Have a good day all.

well its been an eventful 1st full week of the new job! Trying to start work again & add weight training seems a little much for me.... however, I was able to get 2 days in at o dark thirty, monday & thursday, tues I ran, & wednesday I was so exhausted I rested... last night took little DD to the ER for stitches on the chin...she got 7 stitches on the outside, 3 on the inside. definitely not in the plans.. she decides to ride her bike fullspeed down our very steep driveway & was planning to skid to stop... oy! the kid has only been riding on 2 wheels for a few months

So tonight I got on the treadmill at 10 pm.. 1 hour 3.50 miles total, 2.60 miles running, 15 min w/u, 10 at 3.8; 22 at 4.0, 8 at 3.8 then 5 cooldown... I was tired.. could tell in the breathing... wanted to do 4.2 but was smart about it.

Off to the shower now..

So I'm suppose to get 3x a week of the weight training in, but this ended up at the expense of running so maybe one time less a week, & another day using my dumbbells at home? I don't know, will figure this out.

Good luck & have fun in Knoxville!! Say hi to Heidi!

LINDA AND PATTY!!!!!!!!!!!!! WOO HOO!!!!!!!!!!!!! ROCK THE CASBAH! Sorry bout your kid needing stitches in the chin...I've got one of those scars

Well this week I did 5,5, 3, and7. I was just plain lazy one day and didn't run. Coach was not happy...oh well...Can say I honestly didn't have any excuse other than I just didn't do it. But anyway...my new shoes are not the culprit to my knees, knees are better...so yippee! I think I just really strained them with the 13 miles 2 weeks ago.

Shell - good job!! don't let the coach push you too much.

Tom - so did you have fun?? sorry about Heidi & her husband

I've been wheezing a bit the last couple of days, wondering if I pushed it Friday & maybe the tiredness was getting sick ? Really tired last night, so didn't run (cuz I was doing my taxes & DH's Grandma's taxes during the day)... This morning, headache, tired ... only got up cuz the little one had come in my bed at 4:30, I was awake so got up at 5... did 45 minutes on the treadmill.. walked 22 minutes (took me that long to warmup) ran 17 minutes (1 mile) at 3.6 & 5 minutes cooldown... well it was something.. bummed a lot less, but really tried to do what the body wanted to do only. actually thought I might just be walking, but felt a little better so I ran a little...

Hey Linda! No taking steps backwards you hear???

Bout me skipping a run...really I had no excuse. Wasn't tired, wasn't sick, didn't have anything else to do...JUST DIDN"T DO IT! And I just don't care Now if I did that on a regular basis, then that would be stupid, but I don't Coach and I but heads on "reasons to run". My reason is I WANT TO and that's all I need. Yes I want to prove to myself what I'm capable of, yes I want to get better and faster, yes I want to look sexy and be healthy, but ultimately it comes down to I run because I want to. Nothing more, nothing less. It's a big part of my life, but not the center.

Anyway...got 5 today and then upperbody strength training! WOO HOO!

ROCK THE CASBAH!

Shell - I think its perfectly fine to take a day off here & there!

Tom - thanks! I did need to hear that.. I did well at getting the weight training in ( & my alignment & neck are already feeling better Now the running was a different story... & I was SO enjoying improving the running. 45 minutes is all I can get done in the mornings before work... but I thought I actually did well listening to the body this morning (unlike Friday night).. hopefully not a bad setback but a reminder.. ok I need to go read that RR of yours.

Hello all,

Shell I will echo Tom. You're getting in some great runs in. I like your reasoning.

Linda weights will tire you out more. It's going to take a little bit to get accustomed to the additional exercises. I wouldn't think of it as a setback, more of an adjustment. How is the new job going?

Let's see I ran Sat. morning 3.2 miles. Intended it to be 4.5 miles followed by 1/2 hour on the bike. I was just sapped. I managed about 13 min. on the bike after the run. The Frid. before the tri will be a rest day. That whole week I'm going to take it a bit easier. This week is supposed to be my hardest and I'm struggling a bit. I'll just do what I can. Mon. was crosstraining and a new weight routine. Today was 3 miles with intervals. I hit something wrong on my watch and I'm not sure what my time really was. Tonight is swimming. I'm hoping for over 100 laps including some speed work.

Have a good day all.
Patty
