I can't tell you how inspiring it is to read this - I think all Newbies should save posts like this for when we're feeling defeated or discouraged.

You are an awesome, strong gal. My hat's off to you!

Congratulations - your smiles in those pics say it all.

Awesome. Freakin Awesome. I love da "tour da potties" - you know, if you never go the road less travelled... you never know what you might find

Still, you do look like you're having entirely too much fun. What exactly was IN that special needs bags? I think I want me some.

Excellent race, good job!

WAY TO GO!!!!!!!!!!1

You kicked total butt! You trained so hard and you totally deserved this! I hope you are still on your IM high. Mine lasted at least 2 weeks!

Are you going back for more? There are still a few spots left for IMAZ next year!

Thanks again to everyone! I really appreciate all your comments. I'm definitely still on the IM high and I don't ever want to come down!

I'm not doing another IM next year, although I'm thinking about tackling it again in 2009. Next year I'm going to work on my marathon and half ironman speed. I want to qualify for Boston at some point. I grew up there and it's a lifelong goal of mine (not really interested in Kona, but Boston is definitely on my goal list). I'm not sure I can get fast enough in a year, but over the next couple of years I'll put together a run focus and try to get that BQ.

I'm also heading down to Woodlands 101 in November of this year. I'm just going to do that race for fun since there's a great group from Slowtwitch going.

KC - I think you're local to Houston, right? Are you doing that race?

WooT! What a great race, report and pictures! The glow-in-the-dark smiley on the back was great, but the IronGlow smile on the front is even better! Absolutely radiant!

Quick question on the swim... are the folks in wetsuit on the platform participants?

Yup - I'm doing 101, 2 weeks after our local half ironman.

I'm glad this 101 race is being so well received. It looks like people weren't quite as excited about the others. The entry list keeps getting bigger and bigger. There was already about 10-15 from the local club doing the 101, but now lots more are going to do one of the shorter distances. I'm excited about it!

I'm running Chicago 5 weeks prior, so I don't have to worry about tri-specific run training which is so nice. I just plan to kind of "show up." I'm also calling my half ironman my 1 workout for 101! We'll see how all this works out... I'm also planning on a 50k trail run 4 weeks after 101, so I have quite the fall schedule.

Yes, they are. The platform was covered with swimmers at the beginning of the race. In fact, Mike Reilly had to ask some of them to get off because it was going to sink. The pic shows the last 2 before they jumped in to start their swim. They shook hands and took off.

KC - great news that you're doing the 101. I hope we get a chance to meet up. You definitely have a busy fall schedule!
